What’s the difference between Just Vitamin D and D3?

I see both for sale on the shelves but have heard that D3 is better somehow.

Very interesting article. I now feel justified in soaking up the sun in my pool each summer. Thanks.

(If you try this, get tested and avoid all calcium supplements)

Why avoid calcium supplements?

***Northern latitudes do not get enough sun 9 months out of the year, period.***

To top it off, I live in Seattle... I’m screwed.

“I live in Seattle...”

I live in NE Ohio, 2nd to Seattle for lack of sunshine. In the late 70’s, early 80’s I lived in Northern Ireland...it rains more there! (but you might know that)

So get yourself a good D3 supplement and take about 10,000 units a day. Not expensive if you find the right one.

The medical community is behind the eight ball on a LOT of issues.

We found that out with the kidney stones that mr. mm deals with. They are coming around, but the natural health community, which the medical community scorns and sneers at, was right about the need for more calcium, more Vitamin D, and fewer oxylates.

Altitude has to play a role as well. Those figures for latitude only work if you’re out on the prairie in the Mid-West. Going up works like going south because there is less atmosphere to filter out the rays.

I don’t have any clue about what the ratio would be though. It would be an interesting study, however.

Having spent half of the day in a dermatological surgeon’s office having a basal cell carcinoma removed for a second time - an affliction reputedly brought on by “too much sunlight” - I’m afraid I’m having considerable trouble trying to determine the appropriate balance of sun exposure/avoidance......

After finishing my most recent book, I was definitely showing signs of D3 deficiency. I had pit edema in my legs, high blood pressure, pre-diabetis sugar levels, severe chronic back pain, and had gained twenty pounds. Within three weeks of getting back to working outside (shirt off), virtually all of those symptoms were gone. I don't think I can explain that by exercise alone.
