Must not have gotten the money he wanted. Wonder if he’ll now vote with the republicans against the bills.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee perhaps simply complains, “Arrgh... additional job for us!” instead of viewing this as another opportunity to flip the seat for them.
This is stunning news. I don’t think any of the pundits saw it coming. Maybe Dorgan knew he would be facing a real challenge for a change. In any case this is one seat that really ought to be going Republican.
This is GREAT!
I will write him a letter, congratulating him on the success of his consistent support for the murder of 52 million babies.
Translation: Things are going to get very ugly and I don't want to be expected to find a way out of the mess I helped create.
How many Dems in the House and Senate does this make now not running for re-election?
Translation: "After voting for Obamacare I got a snowball's chance in hell of winning reelection..."
Or switching parties?
Great! Now if Dorgan will just retire to a hunting cabin out in the middle of North Dakota and NOT propagandize or “serve” in any other way, he will have done all he can to atone for his many years of “service”.
I doubt he’ll vote with our side on anything, but I will be very glad to see him go. I think this is very telling about the atmosphere politically.
Meanwhile in Michigan.....
Lt. Gov. John Cherry ended his sputtering Democratic campaign for governor, saying he was unable to raise the money he needed.
DORGAN STATEMENT ON HEALTH REFORM LEGISLATION

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND) issued the following statement on the Senates passage of the health reform bill today:
The health care reform bill we are considering today in the United States Senate merited my support because it is a fiscally responsible bill that will expand health care coverage to tens of millions of Americans who are currently uninsured, reduce health care costs for families and small businesses, and strengthen our health care system in rural America.
While I recognize that this is a very controversial issue, I believe that the status quo is unsustainable. Our country spends nearly twice as much on health care as most other countries in the world. And the cost of health care and its claim on our economy is increasing every single year.
There are some tens of millions of Americans who are not covered with health insurance and whose health care costs are then transferred to the rest of the American people to pay. Its estimated that those with insurance pay, on average, $1,000 per year in a hidden tax to cover the uncompensated care given to those who dont now have health insurance.
So, I think it is important for us to try to put the brakes on increasing health care costs, and also to extend health care coverage to those who now dont have it.
I told citizens of North Dakota that I would not support a government take-over of health care. This legislation is not a government takeover. I have said that I would not support public funding for abortion. This legislation does not provide public funding for abortion. I have promised that I would not support legislation that provides health care for illegal immigrants. This legislation does not.

Translation: He was promised that he could parachute into some sort of lucrative post-legislative position, and he wants to collect on it while Obama and his flying monkeys are still in a position to deliver it.
Good riddance to bad rubbish!
My thoughts exactly!
If they aren’t at ground temperature, they are still a threat to freedom and liberty...
“ground temperature”
I like that. Unlike “room temperature”, this expression means that the miscreant is IN the ground, his power of evil forever crushed out of existence.
And no, I don’t believe in zombies or Jason in his hockey mask.
But Dorgan, Kennedy or Lautenberg, they truly frighten me.
