Many evangelicals wondered why under heaven Pastor Rick Warren, Saddleback mega-Church, was so cordial to Barack Hussein Obama during the presidential campaign.
Countless conservatives were so taken aback that they couldnt digest the facts when first told.

Doesn’t sounds to me as if your opinion is very humble. I am no follower of Rick Warren, and have opposed the introduction of his Purpose Driven curricula in a church I was a member of, even refusing to participate in the activities of the time.
However, I’d also like to know what Rick Warren should do with his personal money? He makes a lot of money from his book sales, his speaking engagements and other ventures of which he is a part.
I trust no one who doesn’t trust someone in charge of a mega-church. A lot of these pastors have done some bad things. But a lot of them have done some very good things. I just don’t happen to think that Rick Warren is someone who’s done a lot of good. I think his preaching is poor and without spiritual merit. But is is the spiritual authority at Saddleback, and I’m not going to criticize him for what he does there, or the fact that he puts his money where his mouth is.
Now, I’d also like to know if your criticism is based on your personal animosity toward Christians and Rick Warren, or whether your criticism on an honest appraisial of what he is doing. In other words, is your opinion based on your own personal worship experiences and a membership in a local church? Or are you just taking potshots?
It isn't something that I would say. And I certainly do criticize Pastor Warren for saying it. He should denounce his statement, if he has not done so already. I doubt that if he has denounced the statement, that it got the coverage as when he made the statement. But again, the sliming that freepers are giving him says more about the slimERS than it says about the slimEE. I get pretty upset when my fellow freepers act like the Daily KOSers or the DUmmies. We're above that sort of behavior... or at least, should be.
Pastor Rick Warren = PHONY
a lot of the resonse angst comes from hurt hurt hurt in Jesus’ name.
these people are not all simply spilling awful words.
some of them are so deeply hurt by betrayal betrayal from persons they have trusted and found self-centered in the end.
it is hard to figure out what is the motive behind each response but i would venture to say that much of it is from that sense of being had one more time in the name of Jesus and the gospel.
Not a follower of Warren (and as a SBC Preacher...his moderate approach irritates me immensely) ...but Rick Warren "reverse tithes"...which means he gives 90% of his income back to the church...keeping 10% for himself. He does this on his salary and the income he makes from books...tapes...etc.
So...at least he isn't being a hypocrite. He's only asking others to do a little of what he does already.
I have no problem with a pastor speaking to a muslim organization. I would hope that he would use the opportunity to preach the gospel to them. I have no idea whether Warren preached the gospel or whether he issued "get-along verbage." As a preacher, I would LOVE to be able to address a group of muslims.... provided there are lots of body-guards present.
he twists and turns too much for one to conclude he’s pure in motive.
maybe God who sees the hearts concludes otherwise; but from this vantage point, it appears above sentence to be logical.
should we say warren has been more personally opportunistic than gospel wise?
Understandable. However, I am appealing to them to express their pain in ways that are different from the way lefties express theirs.
if warren states that muslims and christians worship the same deity, i would not conclude that when speaking to muslims he says something about repenting one’s sins to Jesus, committing one’s entire life to Him, and thereby finding personal salvation.
i understand your point.
but i also understand the flip side, though it may be somewhat uncouth.
I left my church when they started discussion groups on his books.
got it
There is nothing wrong with addressing a Muslim group. However, there IS something VERY wrong with addressing a group associated with the original Jihadist terrorist organization, the Muslim Brotherhood, which gave birth to both HAMAS and Al Qaeda, after that group was implicated in the largest terrorism financing trial in US history.
Warren doesn’t give the 90% to Saddleback. He gives it to his charitable organizations (PEACE Plan, etc.).
You aren’t supposed to see that through the facade of touchy/feely liberal love mister Warren spews, don’tchaknow. Onammy and Warren are birds of the same feather ...
I’m no big fan of Warren, but he has done just as you ask. Basically most of the money from his books he has given back to the chuch and has taken no salary for severla years. I’m not defending his current issue, just saying.
very very true.
thanks.
Yep - they can schmooze it up in Warren’s Brokeback Ministries.
I don't even know you to have formed an opinion. I just ask that you consider behaving in ways differently from the lefties. Otherwise it may appear that you are just like them.
