They have lived in our very small town for the past 7 or 8 years and
are very nice, down-to-earth people.

At the same time, it would be interesting to find out what some
“crisis-management” consultants would say about this episode.

I suspect some of them would have advised the parties involved to
not play out this in public.
The father now looks like he benefited from having a very large megaphone
in the form of ESPN...with something of an unfair advantage over the
(now-fired) Tech coach.

And along with that perception, the publicity on the situation did
one thing his son should have never wished for:
he now has acquired a down-side as a slacker/whiner...fairly or not.

As some posters have mentioned, the fired coach is more likely to
end up working in the NFL before his former player.

This episode will spawn plenty of Masters and Doctoral theses in
the communications, journalism and legal departments of many universities
for years to come!

To answer your last question:

Because he never played by their rules, was un-pc and opinionated, and suckered them into an incredible contract in Feb. 09. By all accounts, Leach was not liked by the AD and Chancellor. So, why not have the guts to deny his contract extension in February rather than turn this into a dog and pony show? Seems to me Tech is being run by a bunch of knee jerk, spineless mama's boys.

I was always a Red Raider fan, and never had a strong liking for Texas. So that won’t be hard.

You should have seen him on ESPN a bit ago during the Nebraska game. It was sickening.

I lived in both Omaha and Tucson, but I watched only about 10 minutes of the game. James made me so sick I could not watch any more of it.

Adam James has no NFL future. He wasnt even a D-1 talent. He went to Tech to play baseball and quit the team because he wasnt getting enough playing time. Then Craig “I work at ESPN” James got Leach and Tech to let Adam walk on the team. Adam played at most 10 plays a game.

He is not a good football player.

And Leach didnt screw himself out of anything. The AD has been trying to fire him for years.

If Craig James’ conservatism is being part of an organization that cheats and not stepping forward about it (SMU) or being part of an organization that convicts a person without even interviewing them or going to where they are (ESPN) or raising a little girl who cries to daddy when he doesnt get enough playing time (Alice), then do we really want him on our side?

Perhaps Leach should have done the written apology to Adam James, conveying something like:

Dear Adam,

I’m so sorry that you are the weak little puke that you are, but when I look at your whining, pathetic excuse for a daddy and role model, I understand that you come by it honestly. You have my most sincere pity. Break the umbilical cord buddy, and become the man that you could be.

Your best hope of a mentor,
Coach L

ESPN Leach bashing

Disappointing, to say the least.

" I wouldn’t necessarily automatically believe everything Leach’s attorney says."

True, but added to the statements made by others are making the attorney's statement more and more believable.

And showing up at a Tea Party does not automatically make one virtueous either.
