Today is my 11th anniversary of signing up on FreeRepublic. I lurked since the beginning of October, 1998, learned about the March for Justice, and travelled to DC from NJ to attend it to join the voices of those calling for the impeachment of a President who had broken the law. How thrilling it was to arrive at the Washington Monument on Oct. 31, 1998 to see a sea of flags and 4,000 patriots! Seven weeks later, President Clinton was impeached by the House of Representatives.
Since that time, Freepers have been instrumental in influencing the 2000(Sore/Loserman and "Get out of Cheney's house!) and 2004 elections(exposing Dan Rather's "fake but accurate" Texas ANG memo and helping the SwiftBoat Vets), in shutting down amnesty not once, but twice in 2006, and in pulling the GOP kicking and screaming to the right as an outcome of the disastrous 2008 election of the Usurper-in-Chief.
All that time, FreeRepublic has been my refuge to find common sense and camaderie in the political battles of these 11 years. Having a place where like-minded America-loving patriots can gather has proven invaluable.
The year 2010 will be a watershed in the history of America. The Constitution and the rule of law are at risk, not unlike as in 1998 when I first came to FreeRepublic. We have but ten more full months to influence, peacefully, the course of our country, through the candidates we support and the causes we work for.
I wish you all a Happy New Year, and express my hope that there will be a new birth of freedom for America in 2010. Together, we can make that happen. God bless us, every one.
Happy New Year, toast! The Class of ‘98 is everywhere!
What’s a few years among friends,right?
Lucianne was “trixie” on FR as I recall, before you started her rival site.
Happy New Year to you!
We know where you live post. ;0)
I’m sure I’m in the post-nap queue!
Did you sign up on TRS-1000 or Commodore 64?
What are my chances of outrunning that blue-eyed monster?
You beat me by three weeks; and I had a different screen name then. I carried the Washington State Flag at the MFJ.
OK, Happy New Year to you!
I think it was a Coleco Adam!
No, it was a custom job my teenage son specified, after our Tandy 1000 became a little long in the tooth.
Remember 28K modems?
You oldies make me sick.
In my post to you, the word “you” should have been “she”.
Must be getting senile. Sorry about that.
So, you were one of the flag carriers at the MFJ?
I salute you and the great state of Washington. What an inspiring sight it was to see the march of the state flags.
Happy New Year to you!
Slim and none. Remember, we have backups.
You be a Good Conservative or Jim Thompson will call your number! LOL!
Stentor, you missed being in the Class of '98 by ONE day!
That must have been some New Year's Eve party!
Happy New Year to you!
Hope this finds you well.
LOL!
When Jim Thompson calls your number, it IS all over!
Class of 98 lurker (Nov)... class of 99 lurker... class of 2000 lurker... signed on the dotted line in Sep., 2000. Tried to hitch-hike a ride from here at FR, to the March for Justice. Close- but no cigar (or ride.) ;o)
Originally signed on as railsplitter, settled on freepersup.
Same to you. I lurked from August of 98. I admit that I found FR intimidating. Given the high quality of the posters in those days, I didn't feel I had much to add. (Now I post anyway)
Also:
I remember Eric Holder letting terrorists go free.
I remember when radical islam would suffer missile attacks to draw attention away from grand jury questioning.
I remember when the US was 50 states, rather than 57.
I remember Hillary baking cookies and standing by her man. BTW, where the hell is she?
I remember when Biden was a plagiarist and a joke.
I also remember when names like ‘Obama’ and ‘Hussein’ were associated with terrorist.
I remember when some presidents served up some whoop-ass on those who attack our nation. We need to restore that!
I’ve almost completed 11 years. Thanks JimRob!
Hey, JV, how are you! I think you are referring to Exit148--she was the one who could speak Cantonese, IIRC.
I did get to protest in front the White House a few times in 2000 with the Freepers on Saturdays, sometimes with your brother.
Exit148 inspired my screen name--it's a Jersey thing--you are known by which Parkway or Turnpike exit is closest to you.
