Today is my 11th anniversary of signing up on FreeRepublic. I lurked since the beginning of October, 1998, learned about the March for Justice, and travelled to DC from NJ to attend it to join the voices of those calling for the impeachment of a President who had broken the law. How thrilling it was to arrive at the Washington Monument on Oct. 31, 1998 to see a sea of flags and 4,000 patriots! Seven weeks later, President Clinton was impeached by the House of Representatives.
Since that time, Freepers have been instrumental in influencing the 2000(Sore/Loserman and "Get out of Cheney's house!) and 2004 elections(exposing Dan Rather's "fake but accurate" Texas ANG memo and helping the SwiftBoat Vets), in shutting down amnesty not once, but twice in 2006, and in pulling the GOP kicking and screaming to the right as an outcome of the disastrous 2008 election of the Usurper-in-Chief.
All that time, FreeRepublic has been my refuge to find common sense and camaderie in the political battles of these 11 years. Having a place where like-minded America-loving patriots can gather has proven invaluable.
The year 2010 will be a watershed in the history of America. The Constitution and the rule of law are at risk, not unlike as in 1998 when I first came to FreeRepublic. We have but ten more full months to influence, peacefully, the course of our country, through the candidates we support and the causes we work for.
I wish you all a Happy New Year, and express my hope that there will be a new birth of freedom for America in 2010. Together, we can make that happen. God bless us, every one.
Just don't pull our medicare, ok?
Drudge has a link of freerepublic back up.
Thanks, usconservative, and a Happy New Year to a fellow member of the Class of ‘98! And happy belated anniversary to you!
Unfortunately, some things never go out of style.
And a happy joyous New Year to you too Exit182. Thank you my friend.
