Ever since Mark Kirk announced his campaign seeking the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat in Illinois currently held by Roland Burris there have been many "rumors" regarding Kirk's sexual preferences. Indeed, these "rumors" have been around for years concerning Mark Kirk, but they have been dismissed because of Kirk's relatively low political profile. Journalistically, it would have been irresponsible of me to go with the story for a number of reasons.
Some have asked me why I did not address the allegations Kirk was possibly a homosexual and, for any honest journalist, the answer should be obvious. My reply was: If someone comes to me with incriminating evidence regarding Kirk's sexuality, I would consider it a story. It would take an individual coming forward with photos, videotapes, and/or communications back and forth indicating a homosexual relationship which Kirk took place in. My standards would have been very high before running with the story. Of course, this is in contrast to modern day journalism which has abandoned the true tenets of the profession. However, in many cases, the tabloids, including the National Enquirer, have been more accurate in their coverage of controversial issues. This is a sad statement when the tabloid press can be trusted more than the mainstream media. Yes, the tabloids have stories about UFO abductions, wild conspiracy theories and other issues meant to titillate the public.
However, in recent years, the mainstream media has sold its soul to political correctness, a left wing political agenda and what I call journalism by omission. For example ...

Go figure.
Kirk is “allegedy” a homosexual and obama is “allegedly” a heterosexual
neither has provided film and photos
Go figure is right. Just another lawmaker wanting to stick it up us taxpayers backside.
Actually, they didn’t do ANYTHING remotely close to “opening a can of worms.” All the ads did is further cement Illinoisans collective opinion that Martin-Trigona is unethical, insane, and probably never should’ve been on the ballot in the first place. Radio stations are coming under fire for running the baseless advertisements and newspapers are being criticized for writing about them. As usual, Martin-Trigona is having NO effect on the polls because, once again, he’s a fringe candidate who has a history of similar crazy statements. Kirk is still cruising and Martin-Trigona is still an also-ran. NOTHING has changed.
Meanwhile, in MA, Republican Scott Brown is running for Ted Kennedy's senate seat with no help from the RNC at all.
The GOP establishment is rotten to the core.
Here’s the money paragraph...Why would the liberal mainstream media want Mark Kirk to win the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate in Illinois? After all, the dominant press has also been well aware of the allegations regarding Kirk’s possible homosexuality for years. ...In essence, liberal members of the dominant press would not pursue the issue concerning Kirk’s sexuality—until he would have won the GOP nomination. But it is a fait accompli that if Kirk wins the Illinois Republican primary and becomes the Party’s candidate in the 2010 general election for the U.S. Senate, Kirk’s Democratic opponent, whoever that may be, would be aided by the liberal press who would doggedly pursue the “rumors” in search of evidence regarding Kirk’s sexual preferences. If the allegations are proven to be true, this would virtually guarantee a Democratic victory in an election year when the Democratic Party is widely predicted to suffer huge losses in the Senate and, especially, the House of Representatives.
I do care that the establishment Republicans are content to crown him as the "Frontrunner", just because he's a RINO.
Being a RINO is worse than being a queer in my book.
Being a RINO is worse than being a queer in my book.
You got that right,
Being queer has never stopped Democrats from running. Mikulski has been the Senator from Maryland for years.
The logical thing to do is ask Kirk point blank if he’s a homosexual. Of course, Big Media wouldn’t do that until and unless he wins the Republican nomination. Hopefully there are still a few true journalists left who aren’t afraid to ask tough questions early and often regardless of the answers.
What’s the scuttlebutt in the Illini state? Is he another Crist?
This is yet another reason to support Sarah Palin -- Big Media hates and fears her, which is an indication that: 1) She does not embrace left-wing ideas; 2) She has no problems that haven't already been exposed: she's clean.
I’d vote for an openly gay Republican without hesitation as long as he took the political positions I believe are important. What I wouldn’t vote for is a gay Republican hiding in the closet, because then he’s just an embarrassing scandal waiting to happen.
Quite frankly, he exactly reflects the attitudes of many North Shore “country club” Republicans whose politics are more liberal than those of their parents but just as elitist (if their parents were lawyers or bankers). They are much too laissez faire (kind of an “as long as I get mine” position) for many of us in Illinois.
In Kenilworth, where I’m from, there are many self-made millionaires with conservative views but their kids feel just as entitled as the aforementioned rich and once they inherit the trust fund, there’s no distinction.
Thanks for the feedback. Closet Republicans are open to too much political blackmail. If you are a GOP candidiate who is a known homosexual and in the closet, please do the voters a favor and let it be known and let the chips fall where they may.
From what I hear, Kirk’s no prize, but Andy Martin is a true sociopath, and this article is probably the sleaziest thing I’ve ever read.
The Leftists show their hypocrisy every day.
The Democrats are pushing for Kirk to win the Republican primary because they already have their plans to win using Kirk's homo status as an issue.
Not only that but if he is a closet homosexual, then he will be used to Foley the entire GOP like what happened in 2006.
And the Dems will have once again gay baited to victory.
