The era of the ‘Man’s Man’ is coming ever closer to ending. Soon it will be acceptable for all men to see a film and let it truly effect them emotionally. But that time isn’t upon us just yet. These are the top ten movies that not only make men cry, but it is deemed acceptable for them to do so.

I saw it in the theater. No snacks, no drinks. Just like The Passion of the Christ.
At United 93 I sneaked a 1/4 pint of scotch into the theater to drink with the diet cola from the concession. I knew it would be painful.
I dont think men cried when watching those.
When I watch Blazing Saddles I laugh myself to tears.... does that count?
King Kong made me cry.
I have the United 93 dvd but haven’t been able to bring myself to watch. I did see the film in cinema.
Saw 7 of these, missed 1,2, and 4.
Only two of these films have a remote claim to greatness/
Private Ryan and Braveheart, the latter of which was the better film.
NONE of the 7 brought me to tears, not even close.
The ONLY film to have done that in the last twenty years,(not including the ending coda of Schindler’s List, when it breaks into the present tense, and color)
is the great WINGS OF DESIRE, directed by the remarkably uneven Wim Wenders. WINGS does it every time. It is one of the greatest films made by anyone anywhere in the last 50 years.
Animal House and Caddyshack, but not Caddyshack II. Not a dry eye in the house.
Only #7 made me tear up.
I'll shed a tear for those that shed their blood. It's the least I can do.
Never saw Brian's Song but I'll go with you on the other two.
Okay...admission time. I cried...twice...at “Titanic”. First time was as it was going into all the scenes of the people beginning to drown. Especially with the mother telling her kids it’ll be “like going to sleep”. Ripped my heart out. The second time was at the very end when the heroine has died and her spirit joins all the others in the Grand Straicase on the Titanic with Mr. DiCaprio standing there, waiting for her.
Guess I’m a softie at heart.
They ALL cried when telling their stories, and of their fallen comrades, and how they were not heroes at all. Just doing their jobs and that the real heroes were left back on the islands or five miles deep in the ocean, never waking up from their long sleep.
These were Navy Cross, Medal of Honor winners, etc. You know. Real men. Real, brave men who cried when reliving those horrible scenes in their minds.
Bottom line? Indeed, real men cry.

No but I most certainly did cry when the Hemicuda flipped over and exploded in Phantasm II

The Way We Were. I cried when Barbra Streisand didn’t die at the end.
I don't cry in front of other people because "it's just not being done". By me, or anyone I know of.
If you're looking for movies that do inspire great emotion I can't believe your list doesn't include Gone with the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Midway, or National Lampoon's Christmas. I know I showed tears of laughter just last week seeing the stupid planks in the attic trick.
