Abdul Mutallab, a 23 year old Nigerian claiming he was acting on al Qaida's instructions set off an explosive device on Christmas day on a plane traveling between Nigeria and Detroit. That attempt to murder over 270 people on Delta's Flight 253 was thwarted when one passenger jumped over others to subdue the man. Shortly afterward, the suspect was taken to a front row seat with his pants cut off and his legs burned.

If we are to really win this war, it will be our men and women in uniform, our first responders and people like that passenger on Flight 253 who will be our heroes - not the politicians who can’t even agree on what to call the conflict.”
Enjoyed this read.
“one passenger jumped over others to subdue the man.”God bless him.
Reminds me of “let’s roll”
What needs to happen is for every American to refuse to board aircraft if middle eastern looking individuals board.
Sure does.God.
Obummer said not to jump to conclusions. The passenger probably just spilled hot coffee on his leg.
Sad to say but I had this thought today as well. Yet we are hearing that the terrorists are recruiting people who do not look the part. So we will never be able to be totally certain. Maybe the airlines need to do the routine about seat belts etc Before they push away from the gates to keep this under control. It is a mess.
Please don’t use the term first responders. It is so PC. They are policemen, firemen, paramedics, ...
I cringe when I hear first responder
Please dont use the term first responders.”
It was in the article.
Snopes has nothing on it, and another site has, in part, called it a hoax. The e-mailed version was slightly more detailed, which suggested it was a genuine event.
Canada Free Press can't seem to finish loading their page after the advertisements. Anyone got the most up-to-date link?

You are right; it is very hard to get info on those, hampered as we are by PC nonsense, especially post-flying imams settlement.
I see you found the info in post 13, but for anyone else looking, do FR keyword search “flight297” — http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/flight297/index
There were a number of threads with verification on them, good work by the Marietta Daily Journal, http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2401860/posts
and video of a passenger/witness Brent Brown who is also head of a security firm out of Atlanta (!) — http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2404615/posts
also check out “flight227” on United, which was VERY similar, Denver IA, 12/09: http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/flight227/index .which was reported by, it would seem, only ONE local station (acc locals): http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2406039/posts
Snopes is trying to prove “dry run”; how about if we just prove that a group of mideasterners/muslims/WHATEVER!! were disobeying direct instructions from flight crew?
Either way, their goal of terrorizing passengers/crew, probing for weaknesses and likely reactions, and lawsuit-baiting was accomplished.
Jasper Schuringa, the Dutchman who tackled Mutallab, reminds us that the individual is perhaps our most potent weapon against terrorism. The brave and alert individual is not constrained by political correctness.
This incident is a defeat to terrorism. It broadcasts the fact that terrorism on airliners cannot get past the morally upright individual.
