Maybe he switched so he can vote for Healthcare and they’ll be able to call it bipartisan.

I have been wondering if this might happen, and we might pick up a handful before the primaries.

If he dishes the dirt on Nanzi and Rahm, why not?

That's entirely possible and the pubbies will fall for it, too.

Or maybe he switched because he knows he can't win re-election as a Dem. Time will tell if there's a true change of heart or just a political stunt.

The republicans should look at their voting records before allowing them to switch.

Although it is true that in the South, at the local level, the democratic party is often the only game in town. So some of the democrats are a lot more conservative than the democrat party leadership. Ex. Zell Miller.

According to Michelle Malkin, the GOP has been courting this one. He has a conservative voting record, and he is a doctor who has been openly criticizing what the Dems want to do to health care.

If he does switch, he’ll be just another rino, he’s already proven what he believes when he ran as a democrat. I think a lot of scaiewaggs will be switching parties shortly, so they can stay on in dc and continue drinking at the public fountain of pay, perks and privilage. Unfortunately we’ll have another bunch of spectors.

This is true and I certainly am in no position to judge this man, I don't know his record. But *somebody* better be on the ball in talking to this guy and right now I'm a little cynical regarding the competence of the GOP to do much of anything correctly.

As a democrat and a Dr, did he vote for his nobama unhealthy bill?

Very good. Michelle Malkin has a good sense of these things IMO. It will be interesting to hear what comes out of both his and the pubbie’s camp re: this switch.

from The Politico
...He was one of only 11 House Democrats to vote against the stimulus.

“Look at his voting record – he’s had substantial differences philosophically with the Democratic agenda here in Congress,” said an Alabama ally who is familiar with Griffith’s decision. “It’s something that’s been discussed for the last several months… talking to people in his family. And it genuinely is a reflection of where he feels. It’s his own personal conviction.”

Thanks for that info and hope that is correct.

Still must ask WWSS? (** What would Sarah say? **) ;>)

I don’t know anything about him, other than what I read written by Malkin. Here’s a link to his voting record, if anyone wants to check further:

http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/members/g000557/votes/

I checked over at DUmmieland. He’s reportedly a “Blue Dog”, and they seem to think he ran as a Dem just to get elected but that he was always secretly an R.

Of course, I wouldn’t expect him to be a true conservative, but this is an interesting development.

And the Donks are minus 1. That is a good thing. I’d like to see about 15 more switch.

He's a freshman, votes very conservatively, is a radiation oncologist (MD) and has blasted Obamacare.

LET'S COUNT OUR BLESSINGS! We can save some money going after other Dems in 2010.

Pookie18 found more info. See post # 15.

It appears a Republican candidate is already running against Griffith, and Griffith’s poll numbers are low. So, just as you said before, it looks like he is switching parties to keep his seat.
