Sexual Assaults, Harassment and Violence in U.S. Military Continues

While the latest report from the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) shows that fewer assaults have been reported at the military academies, the question remains as to how many of these go unreported? And is this true in the military as a whole?

According to Rep. John F. Tierney, Chairman of the Subcommittee on National Security and Foreign Affairs, rape is one of the most underreported crimes in the United States, within both the military and civilian populations.

When I see how some young women dress, I fear for their safety. Where are their dads? Where are their mothers?

There’s a law of nature as old as the world: When women invade a man’s turf, i.e. the military, they are in great danger.

I often wonder if we don’t treat our women and chldren as our greatest treasure, what are do men have to fight for and defend.

P.S. I began asking these questions after spending three years in the US Army.

Rape is under reported and I sometimes wonder why some concentrate on the military aspect of it.

There was a time up until very recently where military women had more difficulty then their civilian counterparts but I don't think that's the case anymore.

Wouldn't the real news be if you didn't find assaults, harassment and violence in U.S. Military, or in any other culture?

I've actually heard rumors that there are bakers that rape, musicians that harass, and bartenders that get violent....bartenders!!

That would be the loosest definition of "journalist."
