"ONE-CHILD" PLANET - AN ASININE ARGUMENT
TheCypressTimes.com ^ | 12/13/2009 | Reggie Littlejohn

In her December 8 article, “The Real Inconvenient Truth: The Whole World Needs to Adopt China’s One-Child Policy,” syndicated columnist Diane Francis argues that “a planetary law, such as China’s One-Child Policy, is the only way to reverse the disastrous global birthrate.” After extolling the “intelligence” of the China’s family planning program, she caricatures opponents as “leaders of the worlds big fundamentalist religions.” She concludes: “For those who balk at the notion that governments should control family sizes, just wait until the growing human population turns twice as much pastureland into desert as is not the case.”

This argument is as asinine as it is appalling.

Yeah, that’s just what America needs: to be subject to a World Government, which would arrest pregnant moms and force abortions on them after their one “authorized” child.

The author of this piece is an enemy of humanity, as much as Pol Pot, Mao, Stalin or Hitler.

The only difference is that she has no power....yet.

yeah, call up the Chinese salesgirls in Shenzhen and ask them if they have any brothers or sisters. They have no extended families and most of them are on their own, living alone or in factories, isolated from parents in the countryside, hundreds of miles from home with no sibling support. Ain`t too many smiles on THEIR faces neither. We have seven in our family, our own football team, a baseball team and free-for-all food fights- and lotsa help fast if you get in trouble or ill-can`t have a fun childhood with just one kid. What a lonely life.

....that “a planetary law, such as China’s One-Child Policy, is the only way to reverse the disastrous global birthrate.”

I guess you can't fix stupid.

There is no "disastrous global birthrate." unless you think the exploding Islamic birthrate is a problem.

Even a 8th grader can look up birthrates across the globe and see in 2050 we start dipping down and the max population is 9 billion which is sustainability if we stop using our food to fuel our cars and governments let free markets grow.

Of course if we continue letting Muslims breed like rabbits we may be under 6 billion by 2050 if they ever get their hands on nukes.

I mean, after all what's so bad about nuking 3 billion infidels if it makes mad Mo' piss be upon him happy ? / s

Diane (Francis) has TWO adult children.

Pointed out to some libs that had this policy been effect,
neither JFK or Ted Kennedy would have been born...

Neither would I (5th of 5 children born; my oldest brother in ‘46, me in ‘62)

No one will go along with this idea—on a world stage. Attempts to enforce such a thing will bring revolt, revolution and a rise in fascism. Its one of those ideas that looks good on paper only. Do not worry about the population God will take care of it.

I believe the results of such a policy would produce the following:

1. A small base of wage earners to support the elderly.
2. An undesirable excessive ratio of young men to young women.
3. A need to import people.
4. A more militaristic and hostile nation.

This is already happening elsewhere.

Unnatural selection is allowing the general strength of the population with modern skills to eventually become extinct. This is being done in favor of the less productive (I am being charitable here) to explode. In time, society as we knew it will disappear.

How many productive people do you know who have had more than two children, one child? What is the average? If it is less than 1.7 that population group will disappear in just a few generations if the trend continues.

While one may not like the idea of controls it seems essential for balance of the skill sets to sustain the the current society.

Preservation appears to be too late to me ...the game we have seen the past 100 years is over.

For how many generations will the “one child” policy last? If we start now, in about 10 generations people will disappear.

to reverse the disastrous global birthrate.

The answer to anti-population hysteria is William Godwin's idea which he stated at the same time as the Malthusian fallacy was sweeping the world.Given freedom, individuals in a free society with a just government and a free market will tend to make the correct birth decisions.

Most people who are paying to support their children in the US are not having more than 2 children which equals Zero population growth. I have no problem with people who want more children having more IF they are supporting them. I have a major problem with the groups (and yes, some of these morons are related to me!)on the dole who continue to pop out children like they are biscuits. If I have to pay for you having children, then you shouldn’t be able to have more than one. I don’t want the government minding my business but if you are asking the government to pay for your children, then you are asking the government to mind your business.
