Update: 4:40: Vote is still taking place. Has stalled with a long pro-Zelaya speech by ???. She claims there was 60+ abstentionism on Sunday and is basically repeating the same things we've heard Zelaya say a thousand times. She is quoting several sections of the constitution. Says that Zelaya never submitted a change of the constitution, the court was wrong, .

With his term almost up why are they bothering with this?

As I understand, it is part of the process agreed to in negotiations. The Commies are claiming his ouster was illegal. The debate is to confirm that the action taken on June 28 was indeed in accordance with the Honduran constitution.

90mm recoiless rifle aught to do the trick.
Harboring a traitor with the intent of installing him as an usurper is an act of war.

I agree. Now since that elections are over, the new government should contemplate storming the embassy and dragging him out

Unfortunately, Honduras is surrounded by Chavez surrogates.
So they have to be very careful.

This operation will take 10 minutes total. The military would fill the embassy with gas and will swoop in and drag him out.

And the Chavez surrogate nations surrounding Honduras would declare war in seconds.
That’s why they have to be careful.
They have to coax the little creep out into the open, immediately declare the embassy PNG and ship them out sans Zelaya.
Then execute the traitor.
Plus anyone interfering after that.
But first, coax the creep out.

The accord signed off on by USA was USA would recognize election results IF (1) Congress voted on reinstalling Zelaya until the end of his term (through December) - no reinstate - just vote on it, (2) that Honduras would install a “unity government” - Zelaya did not nominate anyone for this but as a good gesture the acting Pres could step down and the newly elected guy Lobos and maybe some other cool heads from both parties could serve as head of state until Zelaya’s term expired and (3) peaceful, fair and orderly election -which it was.

His surrogates are capable though.
It’s kinda like Obama with his thug army here.
He himself is incapable, but he has drone morons willing to march to his finger crook.

But still, it honestly WOULD be satisfying to see Honduras blast Zelaya out of the embassy.
