Really showing to be a strong candidate! His opponent for the GOP primary used to be a democrat.

What are Junior Paul’s contributions ? Name me all the great works and great achievements he’s done for the KY Republican Party that entitles him to a U.S. Senate nomination. If his name were Paul Rand and he didn’t have all the Paleobucks of Papa Skrimps Peeps, he’d be at the same level of support as Bill Johnson.
I used Grayson's full name, because that was the name he used when he was sworn into office as Secretary of State, and the name I presume will be on the ballot. (And we won't even get into the issue of how the sitting Secretary of State will oversee the election which features himself as a candidate on the ballot.)
And here's a hint for you, if you think all I have against Grayson is his elitist background and entitlement name...start with a search on Grayson and his support/endorsement of Kentucky Senate Bill 62, which would nullify the Kentucky Bill of Rights, and give additional special rights to the mainstream press in the state over the private citizens. When questioned about this, and how he had sworn an oath to the Kentucky Constitution, Grayson's response was "we never had to read that in law school."
The polls (if we are to believe these things) say that its a dead heat right now between Paul and Grayson. So, for better or worse, I anticipate that it will get much nastier on both sides over the next few months. If I recall correctly, the official campaign only began talking about Grayson's Democrat roots after the Grayson campaign got desperate and said Paul had not been a Kentuckian long enough. It was then fair for them to return serve: that Paul had been both a Kentuckian and a Republican much longer than Grayson had been a Republican.
Since you mention Conway, Mongiardo, and dark horses, here is some irony for you...there are presently two other declared candidates in the Democratic primary; one is a woman and one is a minority, but the Dems are only pushing the rich, white males. LOL.
Uh-uh. Nice try. Reagan was well-known by 1966 as a Conservative political activist. He had campaigned vigorously for Barry Goldwater in 1964. He had served on two separate occasions in a “political” job as head of SAG. He didn’t have his daddy buy him a party nomination for major office. He had to defeat a liberal who was likely to lose to Pat Brown in the primary. Might I remind you that Daddy Paul is the anti-Reagan. He ran against Reagan because he didn’t find him acceptable as a President. He’s a Libertarian who couldn’t win office under that label, so uses the Republican party instead. And we can go on and on about how comparing him to Reagan is a singular insult to our former President. Face it, Rand Paul is no Ronald Reagan. No public record, no accomplishments in the political realm (hell, I hadn’t even heard of the guy until he decided to buy this race, or rather, have his father buy it for him - and I’ve heard of nearly everyone in the political realm). You’re trying to slime a guy who has a public record, has six years of credible service in a statewide office, and has won twice (including under difficult circumstances).
So, please, come back when Junior has some similar accomplishments, then we’ll talk.
Upon further reflection, you’re right: My agreement with the email I posted that made an issue of Grayson’s chosen nickname was wrong. I’ll try not to act in such a juvenile manner in the future.
And I’m sure, since we don’t want to be hypocrites, we’ll both apply the same strict adult standard to Mitt Romney and Barack Hussein Obama in the future as well.
So, since you are so much against the way that Rand Paul raises funds for a grassroots campaign for US Senate, and you don't have a vote in this election, here's hoping you aren't one of the big money donors who puts money in Grayson's pockets. A man of the people, a Kentuckian like Rand Paul, doesn't need someone's approval in Tennessee. Good day.
No, the problem was with this peculiar issue to focus on Grayson’s entire name as if the name itself was somehow some major issue (and disqualifier for holding office). It was petty and gratuitous. But, I extend only my respect to those worthy of such, those being Republicans or Conservatives in good standing. As for Slick Willard and Zero, I show them the same level of respect as I would for enemies of Conservatism. :-)
(Just as an aside, by contrast, Zero’s full name should be an issue, as he has sought to dismiss claims he is a closet Mohammadan, despite clearly having the heritage and his public capitulations to that group while serving in office)
In other words, he has no accomplishments. That’s it in a nutshell. I hope Secretary of State Charles Merwin “Trey” Grayson, III reminds the good voters of Kentucky of that very fact, and that the U.S. Senate seat is not to be bought by outside Paleo/Libertarian interests for an unqualified individual. :-)
As fed up as I am with the Republican Party, I almost give an automatic strike to lifelong Republicans. (haha - it’s a joke :) Didn’t know about the residency questions, but I’d like to not have so much venom between the two camps. I’m not really “friends with anyone on the Grayson side, so I only see the Paul side. It’s less the “official campaign” and more the grassroots that I have seen be ugly, but if you are going to pride yourself on a grassroots campaign, I do think you should chastise those who suggest on a FB discussion that you steal the opposition’s signs OR straight from the Democrat playbook - throw a Kegger and attach your opponent’s name to it. (Sometimes things are funnier privately than when expressed on a public forum - PLUS there is nothing wrong with a good ole fashioned kegger -not that I would know - lol). I think Facebook has really just exposed me to a different side, because while I’m usually working for a campaign, I rarely have seen this disdain first hand.
Either way, hopefully everyone will support the person who challenges the Dim cabal. You can bet after May, I’ll be working my tail off for whomever wins the candidacy and wish the best to all involved - really. Conway is a jackass and Mongiardo, well...I think we all know him well enough to leave it alone.
As disgusted as I get sometimes, I say quite often, I’d rather see a loud, rude passion than a quiet, polite apathy. I will say a lot of previously apathetic people have become involved in the Rand Paul campaign, so perhaps that leads to some of the extra enthusiasm.
I did not realize that about the other two candidates on the Dim side. Mongiardo is from close to my neck of the woods. (I’m in Eastern KY) He’s probably the one candidate I know the most about, unfortunately.
Like you did insinuating that Rand is like his father?
Well apparently the apple didn't fall too far from the tree. Ron Paul raised his children the right way and taught them how to be good, responsible citizens. I see that as a good thing, not a liability.
He's using his father's fundraising network, his father's supporters. Without them, he'd be no more higher profile than the 3rd candidate in the race.
OK, Ron Paul never had a political "machine." His 2008 campaign was entirely supported by grassroots and patriotic Americans. It's not his fault that his message inspired volunteers to use the Internet to raise money, and carry that support over to his son. So don't be a hater because the other Republicans can't do the same.
I support the Tea Partiers, I also absolutely oppose Paul and Paleo-Libertarians. They are a clear and present danger to our national security, no different than the Kucinich wing of the Democrat party.
Bullshit. Both are one and the same. The same people who supported Ron Paul are out there protesting Obama and big government. Yes, a handful of anti-war, neo-Nazis tried to exploit Ron Paul's campaign, but they were NOT the majority of his support, and Ron Paul denounced them plenty of times.
Baloney.
Baloney yourself.
He's Ron Paul's boy first and foremost.
I don't care if he's the offspring of Josef Stalin.
He's conservative and he's bringing back the small-libertarians into the GOP and will represent them in the Senate. That's good enough for me.
Don't think you know much about KY politics.
No, I particularly don't care who did what in KY. I want to see small-libertarians represented in the GOP and Rand Paul is that guy.
Because he's done nothing to earn the job.
There you go again, ignoring the anti-Washington, anti-party mood from the voters.
I vigorously oppose Ron Paul as a nutter and dangerous, definitely the anti-Reagan.
But you have no problem supporting a Democrat who once campaigned for Clinton.
I don't care how pure and pristine conservative he is. He needs to drop out and throw his support behind Rand - who's just as conservative regardless of your already-debunked "pro-choicer" argument - and stop Grayson from winning by default.
You've "debunked" nothing. Like his father, Rand Paul thinks states should be able to decide whether or not to permit abortion. This is crystal clear from his recorded comments which have been provided repeatedly.
Answer this one question, the question all of those who think like you do will NEVER answer:
Under our American system of governance, what OTHER unalienable rights do you think states can take away, besides the right to live? The right to keep and bear arms perhaps? Free speech? Free assembly? Religious liberty? Trial by jury? Parental rights? What?
The 9/11 truth, Alex Jones, Lew Rockwell conspiratists are a dedicated little group helping their boy Rand Paul, but he’s a joke of a candidate. He flip flops on the issues, engages in typical Washington doublespeak and backpeddling when push comes to shove. The outrageous disgusting lies being spread by the Rand Paul campaign and its supporters is absolutely shameless - one of the most dishonest campaigns in history.
Indeed. One of those most outrageous lies being spread by the Rand Paul supporters is that Trey Grayson served as a delegate for Bill Clinton at the DNC convention. That is a completely false, outrageous lie being spread by the Rand Paul supporters, and is quite telling as to their character and/or their ability to understand basic fact and are willing to just slander someone and treat them like garbage for no other reason than they are just the other candidate, and should be swatted away - like a fly.
Your arguments continue to be embarrassing - Rand Paul is getting all of his seed money from the national network of conspiracy loons that was set up to support his father, most of whom have probably never set foot in the state of Kentucky.
Did you see of the backpeddling and flip flopping Rand Paul has been doing lately on national security? He’s running hard from his liberal viewpoints and stating he never made them, and that position statements posted prominently on his website for over 6 months were put there without his knowledge or authorization. Embarrassing, typical political doublespeak - we need someone more geniune than that - people are getting tired of politics as usual and that will be to our detriment if someone like Rand Paul who does that is our nominee. All they can come up with are lies and insults to Trey Grayson.
That is beyond stupid, RPL. Did you choose your name when you were born? And Trey Grayson - Trey Grayson - an elitist? Give me a freaking break.
How old, exactly, do you think Trey Grayson is? Campaigning for Bill Clinton, assuming that’s true for the sake of argument, would have made him a very young pup, and I sure know a lot of people who, after growing up, have changed their views from the time they were in their teens and 20s. It’s hardly relevant what he was doing as a kid - what he does as a grown up is of much more concern.
