Sarah Palin: newsweek approach is sexist and oh-so-expected
Governor Palin 4 President ^

Posted on 11/16/2009 8:39:39 PM PST by MaxCUA

The choice of photo for the cover of this week's Newsweek is unfortunate. When it comes to Sarah Palin, this "news" magazine has relished focusing on the irrelevant rather than the relevant. The Runner's World magazine one-page profile for which this photo was taken was all about health and fitness - a subject to which I am devoted and which is critically important to this nation. The out-of-context Newsweek approach is sexist and oh-so-expected by now. If anyone can learn anything from it: it shows why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, gender, or color of skin. The media will do anything to draw attention - even if out of context.

- Sarah Palin

Newsweek Staff E-mails (1st name (period) Last Name @ newsweek.com):

Please e-mails Newsweek and don't hold back. Not to change their minds but to harass them and let them know Obama is a complete disaster, their blind support for them is disgusting and America is putting them out of business. Realize, any attack or insult to Governor Palin is simply these morons protecting Obama.

It is pretty sad when Newsweek has to use a photo from another magazine for their cover. It is a great photo and was used to sell magazines. They don’t like Sarah but they like the fact that she can sell magazines. What a bunch of hypocrites.

I like the picture, it sells one magazine and then puts them out of business.

My kind of picture.

Self inflicted gun shot wound

Ummmm...hello? I really don’t think anyone forced Mrs Palin to don that costume and POSE for that cheesecake picture. Who advises this woman on PR matters, anyway?

That picture was for a spread in RUNNER'S WORLD. Palin is an avid health nut and promotes running as a healthy exercise.

The picture was NOT taken for Newsweek. But you knew that didn't you?

Actually, I did know it. It is in fact, the same picture. Why is the same shot sexist for Newsweek, and not Runner's World?

Moreover, I believe I've commented before on FR on the fact that I wasn't crazy about the casual way the American flag and the Blue Star were used as props for that little photo op.

Another fitness magazine, called Prevention, just did a story on Michelle, an interview. Showed her in a sleeveless, slinky, clinging purple dress and high-heel gold sandals, ironically, also with hands on hips like Sarah. This rather undignified and sexy outfit won the praise of the author. Michelle’s interview was along these lines: “me me me me me me Barack me me me me, my-mom-lives-with-us-in-her-own-suite-of-rooms-at-the-White-House, it’s so comforting to have her close by when I need to talk about me me me me me me me.”

I called an cancelled my subscription.
