Sarah Palin takes aim at vegetarians in Going Rogue

Besides addressing her views on the McCain campaign and the media, Palin, a passionate Alaskan hunter, takes aim at vegetarians. Palin states, “If any vegans came over for dinner, I could whip them up a salad, then explain my philosophy on being a carnivore: If God had not intended for us to eat animals, how come He made them out of meat?”

because to eat animals you have to kill them and God did not intend for any to die

You must have missed all the parts in the Bible where God asks for animals to be sacrified to please him! Why do you think the Bible goes on to explain what animals Jews can eat, and which not?

Tell me you are kidding.

Then could you explain why God commanded that burnt offerings be of lambs, goats, cattle, and turtledoves? (If He intended no animals to be killed)

LOL - keep floggin away on the talking points, it’s fun to read. Especially that scolding, finger-shaking “read your Bible, Sarah” stuff. Is that from Rahm, or Carville?

ccomodating him for meetings is a big pain in the butt for the caterers - nothing is good enough for his “special” tray. Once they only brought steamed vegetables for him - HOW SILLY IS THAT, to bring veggies for a vegetarian? He scoffed at them as if they were the most ignorant people in the world.

I am not a vegetarian but have learned to cook for vegetarians over the years. This guy might be overbearing, but the real problem is that it sounds as though your caterer is an idiot. I have never been to a good restaurant where the chef could not prepare a decent meal for one of the vegetarians in the crowd on short notice even though nothing appropriate was on the menu. And no, you don't just steam up some raw vegetables for a vegetarian, any more than you would just steam up a piece of beef chuck for a carnivore and expect him to be happy about it.

We have a vegetarian in our office, and accomodating him for meetings is a big pain in the butt for the caterers - nothing is good enough for his “special” tray.

Have the facilities staff keep a bag of lawn waste. Next time vegan "man" bitches about what the caterers whip up, give him a big ole plate of grass clippings instead.

I really hope this round is not a statistically valid sample of the true beliefs of conservatives, because if it is, we can pull a sheet over it. Politically it is dead.

LOL! I’ve been a vegetarian most all of my life (by choice) Have my own reasons not to eat meat. Cook it for my family and prefer being around meat eaters! I find most vegetarians are making some kind of statement! Because of the bad rap most vegetarians have...I try not to let anyone know about this preference of mine!

While I’ll agree with you on the fact that we were originally created to eat plants and then were given meat as a concession, I’m not so sure we can say absolutely that animal death did not precede the Fall.

Theologians from Augustine on have wondered about this...and it seems pretty obvious that the anatomy of some animals (e.g. carnivores) was expressly designed for the destruction of other animals. Teeth, claws, all that business.

Augustine was among those who concluded that animal death could well have preceded the Fall.

You’re Biblically correct, of course, but are being far too severe. We are given dominion, stewardship really, over this world and all that is in it. That is not to go to the other extreme, to torment or kill the lesser creatures for amusement or sport. The righteous man regardeth the life of his beast. We are to be merciful. We are to be kind. Humane treatment of animals grown for food is demanded of us. It’s, to me, sinful to go hunting and waste the body of any animal taken in the hunt. Honor the life taken in order to give you life, and make use of it. Never go to excess. Moderation in all things, including the eating of meat.

That’s the healthiest view of our God-given permission to eat meat, regardless of what necessitated it, or what went before. If you want to be vegetarian, or even need to be for health reasons, I’m not going to mock the choice. But, I will denounce the radicals who want to force us all to eat nothing but legumes, grain and the occasional fruit or vegetable. That’s not healthy. It’s controlling, by mostly un-Godly people, who seek to destroy our society, through ridiculous, all-pervasive regulations.

It doesn’t help that animals are being treated so poorly under modern “factory” methods. I’ve got a few Greek Orthodox friends, who insist that the fear those animals experienced and the hormones released, affect the meat itself and those who consume it. They own a restaurant, and have always refused to buy it. Odd as it sounds, I agree with them. But, I’m not vegetarian. I could be, if need be, but there is no need at present.

To take the position that we should all go back to an antedilivian diet flies in the face of physical reality post-flood. Try putting your dogs or cats, if you have them, on a vegetarian diet and see how well they fare. They won’t fare well, and neither do most people on such a diet. A great deal of effort and care goes into making sure sufficient vitamins, minerals and amino acids are consumed, in the absence of meat in the diet, which has these in abundance.

The only difference between us and vegetarians is we eat higher on the IQ scale. When a vegan eats wheat he's eating life - just really stupid life. When we eat chicken, we're eating slightly smarter life.

Vegetarians talk about their food, doctors, and body functions - - boooorrrring...

I'm sure the guy on the right would agree. "Japanese people taste the best - whites are too salty".

It’s an old line. Not very clever, IMO, but at least Sarah didn’t come up with it herself.

I knew a guy who lived next to a crematorium. He claimed that you could always tell when they cremated an Italian. You could smell the garlic.
