House Dems Say Anti-Abortion Amendment MUST Be Stripped or ELSE

The House Obamacare Abortion war is not done. Before the final vote on Saturday night, the house passed the Stupak Amendment, the only bi-partisan part of the bill. Sixty-four Democrats joined Republicans to pass the amendment, which if it wasn't passed would have caused the 40+ pro-life Democrats to vote no, putting Obamacare on the shelf next to Hillarycare. The Stupak amendment prohibits abortion coverage in the public insurance option included in the House bill and would also prevent private plans from offering coverage for abortion services if they accepts people who are receiving government subsidies.

The passing of the Stupak Amendment has roused the pro-choice forces out of their slumber.

This is too sweet - just have to have a pro-murder provision which no one wants. Go ahead, Pa-lousy.

What kind of nonsense is this? The Dems consciously, or unconsciously, vote to approve a bill and then some of them start screaming about unacceptable statements in the bill that must come out. All politics, no charactor or conviction. What a bunch of flaming idiots.

There has to be another House vote on IF this pig gets passed in the Senate. If the Stupak Amendment is stripped out, it won't pass in the House.

Some Dhims actually believe in their pro-life stance.

So, if
a) the Stupak amendment stands in the final bill 40 pro-choice Dims will change their vote and vote no,

or

b) if the bill is stripped from the final bill 40+ pro-life Dims will vote no.

What a conundrum! :-)

I had heard somebody (sorry, bad that I don’t remember who) on Fox late last week saying that the amendment was just a shell game, anyway. That instead of paying directly, we would pay a 3rd party to fund abortions. It was just noise to fool the pro-life voters. I suspect the screaming now is just noise for their base.

This shows how dumb the GOP is. By simply not voting on the amendment they(the GOP) could have killed Obamacare. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb!

Would having voted “present” help?

IMO, it's a ploy. Take out the abortion part and then they get this fiasco passed!

NO! It's NO Gov't control health care EVER! The whole bill is unacceptable!

I thought the same thing. They should have just voted no with a statement that the whole thing was unconstitutional.

Just not voting would have killed the bill.

why did the pubs vote for it when without it the blue dogs would not have voted for the bill?

Seems strange to me, they could have just said present and leave it to the blue dogs to vote against thre bill.

It was dumb and that is what I suggested on an earlier thread. No reason to help the Dems out here.
