This is Part II of a three part series. (you can find part one HERE)
In 1992 Americans were told, Its the economy, stupid. In recent years Americans have slowly begun to wake up and realize that no matter what the issue; economy, free speech, taxes, energy, private property, etc, that it all boils down to the Constitution. It is the US Constitution that is the key to all these issues, and protecting the rights of American citizens.
Last week we talked about what made us, mainstream. For me, it boiled down to faith, family, and the founding of our nation. Now that we know what motivates us and defines us as mainstream, we have decisions to make.
The two major political parties have managed to create very loyal foot soldiers. Both parties spend their time and money demonizing the other party while claiming to be your great savior. Yes, they will protect you from those evil people on the other side. The Republicans are cold, heartless, and greedy. The Democrats are stupid, wimpy, and communists. Oh, and both parties will tell you that the Libertarians are just crazy dope smokers. Okay, I admit it; I have met people in all three parties that fit these descriptions perfectly. But I also have people in my own family who fit these descriptions.
The point is this, the tactics used by the parties has broken down communication between average Americans. Face it, we spent way too much time being good little soldiers. We chose an army and set out to do battle. We manned phones, walked neighborhoods, put signs in our yards, and bumper stickers on our cars. We even went to office parties, family reunions, and neighborhood gatherings and literally evangelized on behalf of the donkey or the elephant.
I witness daily examples of how well we were trained by these political parties. Foe example, the Congressional Campaign in New Yorks 23rd District is a perfect example. I watch people who share the same values blame each other for the possible loss of a seat, instead of blaming the party. You have two people who agree on all the big issues, but fight amongst each other instead of challenging the party that supports a candidate that shares none of your views on the issues. We have become pawns.
It is time we put these false idols away. It is time we look to the real symbols worth fighting for; Faith, Family, and our Founding Documents. Its time to speak out to all those around you. It is time to call DC and your local representatives with one simple message; Its about the Constitution, Stupid!
Our countrys documents were not written for politicians or attorneys. They are not written in legalese. They were written by everyday citizens, for all American citizens. I carry copies of our Declaration of Independence and Constitution with me everywhere I go. I refuse to allow people to fall for the lie that they could not possibly understand the Constitution by simply reading it themselves. Even staffers in DC tell me they cant answer my questions because they are not Constitutional Attorneys. I then ask if they, or anyone it their office, has even read it. Are you insinuating we havent? they ask. My reply, No, I am not insinuating a darn thing. I am asking you a simple question. Have you or anyone in your office even read the US Constitution? I keep swearing that one day I am going to get stickers made to use as warning labels to put on the front of them that read No Attorney Necessary.
We have decisions to make. Do we sit on the sidelines? Do we disengage? Do we continue to be good little soldiers for party symbols? Or do we work hard for the sake of the things we hold dear and know to be right?
Faith. Family. Our Nations Founding.
