Disorder of Liberalism

I cannot stand today’s modern liberalism. It used to advocate freedom from tyranny, but now it advocates a new form of tyranny at the expense of freedom. It does exactly the opposite now of what it used to do at this country’s founding.

The political cycle works in this fashion. When Conservatives are in office for a long time, the people veer left, and when liberals are in office, the people veer right. It reminds me of the idea that the ancient Greek philosopher Plato cited when he said, “The excessive increase of anything causes a reaction in the opposite direction.”.....

This puts it all in a nutshell. There is too much happening, and I believe it is vital that it all stays bundled together and put into perspective. Liberals cannot govern. Their spirit is filled with error, and they are too self seeking to govern. Again, the hope of this article is to put it all into perspective.

Thats because they aren't liberals. They stole the name. I never use that word in referring to them, because it doesn't belong to them.

Leftists. Socialists. Marxists, the ones in O's inner circle. Fascists, some of them. Progressives; its the exact opposite of what they are, but they've used the word historically so I don't begrudge them their little self-deceit.

And Democrats, obviously. My preferred term is populist, for the great mass of them; populist left and populist right, but in the end thats what most of them are and thats what the marxists among them use as a pose to get over on them.

Liberals, no. They stole that name; its not theirs. We are Lockean, Burkean Jeffersonian Constitutionalists. Locke was a classic liberal. Burke, the "father of conservatism" was a Whig, which is to say, a classic liberal. Jefferson, a classic liberal. The Constitution? The quintessential classic liberal document. If you believe in liberty, limited government, private property, you are a classic liberal.

American conservatives are, by and large, classic liberals. Most of us are also conservative, in the sense that our classic liberalism is rooted in the judeo-christian understanding of man's place in the world that God made.

We are Locke's children. They are Rousseau's spawn. Nothing they do ever leads to freedom, it always leads back to the men in snappy uniforms telling everyone what the will of the people supposedly is, like it or not.

Right that they did. But there is something else they stole that slips under the radar. This reversal of red and blue. Red and blue states, etc. It used to be “red” was quite properly applied to the commie left. Not now, somewhere along the way, our squishy Republicans allowed them to pull a switcheroo. That really, really irritates me! THEY are the reds.

"When Conservatives are in office for a long time, the people veer left, and when liberals are in office, the people veer right."

They've been two arguably conservative Presidents in the 20th century, Calvin Coolidge and Ronald Reagan. In both cases, the people voted to continue with those policies. Unfortunately, they got the proto-FDR Herbert Hoover and Democrat-Lite George H. W. Bush instead. With proto-statists in office, the voters rejected them and went for moderate sounding and acting Democrats FDR and Obama. Both removed the masks and became out and out socialists determined to remake the country.

The high-speed reaction and backlash to Obama has been stunning. It started within three weeks of his inaugaration and has just built and built. Clinton lost the Congress after two years of his bumbling and it looks like Obama is on an even steeper glide path. Clinton never had the huge majorities in the House and Senate like Obama.

I'm buying the special 'Butter Lover's' popcorn for the Tuesday election returns. I think it's going to be a sweep for the Backlash; McDonnell, Christie (Rush's old radio name) and Hoffman.
