—Evolution wasn’t banned under Stalin, but Darwinism was, as being opposed to their ideology. Espousing Darwinism in Stalin’s USSR wasn’t conducive to staying alive. They instead favored Lysenkoism.

—The “Aryan race” idea was Gobineau, an anti-evolutionist who came up with the idea before Origin of Species was published.
As for the inspiration for eugenics, Hitler credits the ancient Spartans:
“Sparta must be regarded as the first Völkisch State.
