The Chicago Tribune, who less than a year ago would wax poetic (as almost every other member of the MSM did, at the time) in its endorsement of candidate Obama, wrote the following yesterday:
A GOP health planDemocrats in the U.S. House and Senate have spent the spring, summer and fall grappling with how to fix the health care system. Theyre still trying to craft a bill they can sell to Americans or even explain in plain English.
And the Republicans? Well, as the minority party, theyre mainly on the sidelines. Theyve become the party of no, sniping at every Democratic health care reform idea without promoting any of their own. Right?
Not entirely.
Over the summer and fall, Republicans in the House and Senate have introduced six yes, six health care reform proposals. You didnt hear? Well, those plans didnt produce much of a ripple because Democrats dominate the Congress.
[...]These excellent ideas could expand coverage for the uninsured without cratering the federal budget or curbing the competition and innovation that drive the U.S. health care system. Republicans should keep pushing them and ruling Democrats need to give them a full and fair hearing.
I feel compelled to ask
has hell frozen over? Or are some staunch Democrats, some former Obama worshippers waking up to reality and smelling the stench of the old, stale, political coffee?

They blame the Democrats for us not hearing about the bills, but in reality it is due to the media; the Tribune is just trying to duck blame.

You are right, but it isn’t only the media. Those bills got killed in committee.
Why don’t the Republicans bypass the old media and do what Sarah does? They could outline their ideas and link to actual plans.
The war on FOX by the white house has opened their eyes, we are NOT into fluff on michele’s bare arms, or Obama’s empty rhetoric (some of us never were). There are real problems to face, and media hype of an empty image, cheerleaded by a state run fringe media, just doesn’t cut it.
I think some people are starting to stir. Few people truly embrace liberalism once they see the facts and really look inward at what they believe, save for a few academics, intellectuals, and true Marxists. The problem is as soon as we (conservatives) think they're coming around, something pulls them back to the plantation. Reagan Democrats are the primary example.
The conservative movement, and the GOP assuming they return to their conservative principles, have a grand opportunity in the dissolusioned Democrats who have recently realized that they don't have anything in common with Obama, Pelosi, and Company, but don't think they're conservatives...it's up to us to show them that they are.
I think the public is becoming profoundly concerned about Marxist’s and Mao lovers in the White House taking shots at the institutions of Free America.
And the Media is taking notice that they too are vulnerable if they don’t parrot the government propaganda word for word.
What usually happens is repubs win, then get drunk on power and go on a spending spree. In short they don't govern as conservatives but liberal-lite. This ends up doing more harm than good since now it gives conservativism a bad name.
IMHO the RINO McCains and "compassionate conservatives" and "big tent" republicans do more harm than the DUmmies.
Uh, no. More like THIRTY.
Including but not limited to explicit wording prohibiting taxpayer funds being used to pay for abortion on demand, and prohibitions against using taxpayer monies to pay medical costs for those in the U.S. illegally. Guarantees sought for by Republicans concerning these two items, have been fought tooth & nail by the Democrats.
Rep. Wilson was absolutely correct when he hollered to Obama, "you lie".
Ditto!
Or maybe it's the fact that when they get into power the Republicans act like Democrats.
When the Republicans get into power they seem afraid of it and do act very much like Democrats
