Scraping the bottom of the barrel. It’s easy to cherry-pick quotes, especially from a guy who exaggerate, speaks facetiously, and generally bloviates (to borrow a word from Bill O’Yelly) all the time. I’m sure he’d apologize or make excuses for things he’s said, from time to time. But don’t take it so seriously. Unlike how the MSM portrays him, Rush doesn’t stoking the flames of hatred. He makes fun of people. Big deal.
It’s exceedingly difficult to teach uptight liberals the difference between the oh-so-earnest Sharpton/Jackson and the jolly Rush.

I’d like to apologize for all the little grammatical mistakes in my last post. What was I thinking?
Rush explained the “take the bone out of your nose” comment. It was when he was starting in radio and the studio wanted him to be an “insult jock” or a “shock jock” like Stern, etc. They had a bunch of insults written for him and he used some of them. He soon told them that he didn’t want to be a “shock jock”.
If that’s the “standard” of “racism”, then Howard Stern is the biggest racist I’ve ever heard in my life. His stuff is 100 times worse than anything I’ve ever heard from anyone.
But, but, but, he has a black co-host, yes, and Rush has a black producer.
Much of what these Rush bashers call “racist” is political satire, just because he uses political satire on EVERYONE, he’s a racist.
P.C. thinking allows for no mocking of “protected groups”, that’s “racist”.
Women, gays, minorites, liberals, NO MOCKING ALLOWED, unless you’re a liberal, than you can say anything and your LEFTIST political position overrides your jokes, those same jokes told by someone who is NOT A LEFTIST, is considered racist, sexist, etc.
The P.C. police have some very confusing rules. To break it down, LEFTISTS can say anything, anyone else, you’re not allowed to say anything that offends the LEFTIST, intent does not matter, you MAY be taken out of context, it doesn’t matter, if it offends ONE person, you are a bigot, racist, sexist...
Rush actually did say that to a caller when he was working as a regular DJ. He talked about it in an interview with Newsday back in 1990.
Hey, I’ve always had a soft spot for Pitts...since he approvingly quoted me from an FR thread back in ‘01.
Pitts is not only a sloppy fact-checker and a hater (he wrote an “obituary” column for Ronald Reagan that claimed Reagan was responsible for the early popularity of crack and had announced his candidacy at a certain state fair to send an “I’m with you” signal to the Klan) but most of all he’s a one-trick pony, and that one trick is writing “Everyone to the right of me is a racist.”
Why do his critics have to cite one comment made 40 years ago as a shock jock or make up "racist" quotes from whole cloth when there are 46,800 hours of tape to quote from? Hmmmm?
A college dropout has accomplished more than a high-school dropout. Does a college dropout deserve greater standing in the media than a high-school dropout?
Peter Jennings was a high-school dropout. Should he have been listened to?
And I would add, Bill Gates is a college dropout. As is Michael Dell.
