Gawd that was a great, excruciating book, “Endurance.”

Thanks, paints a better picture of Sarah than most I’ve seen yet. Thought I’d ping Solid Wood that she might add it to her list.

Sorry man, not buying it.
One is a small time pol, the other endured horrible conditions and saved ALL of his men. IOW, a real leader.
NOT even in the same class. Sorry.
SaraH is nice, talks a good game and all that but Shackelton she is NOT.
Then again, you can tell a lot about a person from the people they admire.

Welcome to FR.
I just read this excellent piece from where you had linked it in the comments section of another blog.
I liked it so much that I called my mother and read it aloud to her over the phone!
I’m sending it to everyone in my email address book.
The reason I discovered that you had posted the thread here at FR is because I had just done a title search, with every intention of posting it here if it had not been posted already.
Thanks for posting it here. : )

Comparing Sara Palin to the greatest explorer in history might appear to stretch the limits of metaphorical license, even for an Irishwoman given to hyperbole. I contend, however, that it pales when compared to likening a revolutionary idealist with two weeks of Presidential experience, to Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Theresa, or Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Both comparisons are ridiculous.
