Bump for Sunday reading!
really?
SNL is just JEALOUS that they didn’t think of it LAST WEEK!
Tame, lame.
I noticed that didn’t give much to ‘fact check’ this time...
“Skit was lame”
Sadly so. Obama should be a gold mine of material for a satirist, but SNL’s heart just isn’t in it.
If you haven’t already found it here are a couple of examples from Mark Steyn.
“Up next: His stunning victory in this year’s Miss World contest. Dec. 12, Johannesburg. “
or better yet,
“... his supporters voted for him not to win a war but to win a victory on health care and other domestic issues. Why squander your presidency on trying to turn an economically moribund feudal backwater into a functioning nation state when you can turn a functioning nation state into an economically moribund feudal backwater?”

Racism!
That was not harsh at all.
The guy does a terrible job imitating BO. The raised chin thing is completely missed. The mannerisms are completely missed. In all, I think SNL is doing him a big favor by not exaggerating the mannerisms that are arrogant and condescending.
In terms of mocking him on this issue—I think this was about a gentle as it is possible to be. This took ridiculous and made it mildly funny.
He’s spent 9 months as a clone of George Bush. Haven’r they noticed?
That sucked!
.
The opening skit with “Obama” was horrible. Completely flat and not even funny. I am sure I could have written a much, much funnier one. They were teed up with an amazing shot (the Nobel) and they crapped out.
Worse was the News segment where the news guy kept trying to insult Rush Limbaugh, making, of all things, FAT jokes repeatedly about him, and showing a photo of him about 80 lbs heavier than he is today. When he was standing next to Jay Leno on Jay’s show, Limbaugh looked thinner. Wake up and quit mocking his size.
The also tried to scorn Rush as a drug addict. Oh ho ho. Such subtle, intelligent humor. Do they rip Chevy Chase for his addictions? Belushi? Farley? I wonder which early SNL alums did NOT have an addiction?? But if you are on the left and struggling with addiction, you are a HERO.
The humor was sucky on that show tonight (I watched it a day late), except for the wonderful guy who plays that Italian talk show host. I absolutely love him. His James Carville is funny too. Give that guy more parts. Also, the mocking of Drew’s babyish lisping and Valley Girl style of speech was funny. Admirable when stars can mock themselves.
