Consumers Reports Betrays its Bias on Health Care

Via Taegen Goddard's Political Wire -Consumers Union publisher of the Consumers Reports monthly products ratings and review magazine, has stepped outside its' area of expertise and into the health care debate. President Jim Guest attempts to justify an endorsement of Democrats' health care reform while suggesting they are maintaining an impartial view:

"You may wonder why we are injecting ourselves so publicly into a heated debate that has generated an enormous amount of concern and confusion... We are in the business of providing information and advice that helps consumers. We don't make campaign contributions. We don't endorse candidates. And we don't care who gets the credit for fixing the problems with health care -- we just need them fixed. Doing nothing about health care is not a solution."

Buh-bye Consumer Union.

Don’t ask me for any money or try to sell me anything.

I’ll use e-opinions and other internet sources from now on.

Consumers Union has always been a haven for lefties.

Whenever they report on something I know a lot about, I discover they dont know what they are talking about. So I take all advice from them with a big bag of salt.

Typical straw man, implying that opponents of ObamaCare ideally want to “do nothing.” On the contrary, GOP.com and numerous other sites outline dozens of free-market reforms we DO want to DO.

And how does the Left respond when a free-market solution is proposed? One way is to ignore it (q.v., above). Another is hatemongering instead of grappling with the proposal. Remember when the co-founder of Whole Foods put an 8-point-reform Op Ed in the Wall Street Journal? I never saw ANY substantive response, but I sure saw a lot of hateful spew and an effort to boycott Whole Foods as a result.

The word “union” in their title is a big tip off!

Just canceled my subscription. Their judgment cannot be very good if they think MORE government involvement in our healthcare delivery system will be good for consumers (or providers for that matter).
