The UN General Assembly has been in session, and if typical of them, nasty things are probably in store for American gun owners as a result.
The Citizen's Committee For The Right To Keep and Bear Arms (CCKRBA), in a recent mailing, said that The UN is still actively pursuing the guns you own, and the ones you want to buy. Don't count out associated non-governmental organizations (NGOs) such as The International Network On Small Arms (IANSA.) IANSA's Rebecca Peters was largely responsible for the disarming of Australians and the associated increase in violent crimes there as a result of criminals retaining and using their firearms in assaultive crimes while the now defenseless law abiding general public turned theirs in for destruction.
John Bolton, former US Ambassador to the UN, has said that one of the the greatest dangers toAmerican's gun rights are non-governmental organizations, such as IANSA. Just consider Rebecca Peters and IANSA's Australian success that they want to use as a model for the United States. There is still a UN anti gun treaty pending here.
CCRKBA reported in their letter that "The Report to the Secretary-General on the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice contains provisions which directly target the rights of law abiding American gun owners. Among the proposals included in the section of the UN report entitled Measures to Regulate Firearms are:
A requirement for hunters to store their firearms in so-called sporting clubs; Allowing only smooth bore firearms or shotguns for personal protection; Allowing firearm collectors to possess only those firearms that have been altered so they can no longer be fired; Requiring firearm owners to establish a need for possessing their guns; Requiring hunters to obtain insurance before hunting; Generally to discourage the private ownership of firearms."
UN's definitions are bizarre...

They try pulling that crap in the last paragraph here in America and they will have a bloody civil war on their hands.
This Rebecca Peters piece of garbage needs to be run out of the United States, and the UN with her.
Unless the UN and all governments show us the way by destroying their guns first, they can kiss my @ss. You and I know that they won’t give up their guns, so why should I?
I’d invite the blue helmets to my neck of the woods. Everybody has at least one gun and most have rifles with scopes. They would make for great target practice.
Trying to take them from me would be a bad idea.
Rebecca Peters of IANSA. Love the caption at the bottom of the picture.
She looks a bit "Subaru-ish," if you catch my drift.
I know the NRA is fighting a good fight, but fear-mongering and aggressive, dishonest phone solicitors really turn me off. I wonder how many people feel like me after getting one of those calls. It is no wonder the left think NRA members are wackos!
I think you mean “Janet Reno-ish” - if you get my drift....
love the purple camo!
Same thing.
22 USC 2552 (2003)
As used in this chapter - (a) The terms “arms control” and “disarmament” mean the identification, verification, inspection, limitation, control, reduction, or elimination, of armed forces and armaments of all kinds under international agreement including the necessary steps taken under such an agreement to establish an effective system of international control, or to create and strengthen international organizations for the maintenance of peace. (b) The term “Government agency” means any executive department, commission, agency, independent establishment, corporation wholly or partly owned by the United States which is an instrumentality of the United States, or any board, bureau, division, service, office, officer, authority, administration, or other establishment in the executive branch of Government.
22 USC 2551
An ultimate goal of the United States is a world which is free from the scourge of war and the dangers and burdens of armaments; in which the use of force has been subordinated to the rule of law; and in which international adjustments to a changing world are achieved peacefully.
It is the purpose of this chapter to provide impetus toward this goal by addressing the problem of reduction and control of armaments looking toward ultimate world disarmament.
The Secretary of State must have the capacity to provide the essential scientific, economic, political, military, psychological, and technological information upon which realistic arms control, nonproliferation, and disarmament policy must be based.
The Secretary shall have the authority, under the direction of the President, to carry out the following primary functions: (1) The preparation for and management of United States participation in international negotiations and implementation fora in the arms control, nonproliferation, and disarmament field. (2) The conduct, support, and coordination of research for arms control, nonproliferation, and disarmament policy formulation. (3) The preparation for, operation of, or direction of, United States participation in such control systems as may become part of United States arms control, nonproliferation, and disarmament activities. (4) The dissemination and coordination of public information concerning arms control, nonproliferation, and disarmament.
As you can see from my posts of United States Code in 18 & 19. They (US Government) are not “trying” to disarm us - they are actively engaged in doing so now.
