Charles Johnson the Despot of Little Green Footballs fell victim to the story yesterday. To prove a point on his TV show the other day Glenn Beck threw a rubber frog into boiling water. The next day the "Monitor" and the left-handed side of the internet whined that Beck Killed a REAL FROG. Beck explains what happened in the video below (if you can't see the video click here)
At first glance it seemed as if Charles Johnson flew off the handle just like most days when Johnson forgets to take his medication, he couldn't wait to attack someone he disagreed with. It was assumed that in this case his irrational anger forced him to go after the Fox Broadcaster. But that is not what happened.
After some digging it was discovered that Johnson did not learn about the Beck incident from the liberal bloggers or the Christian Science Monitor. He was forced into writing his Frog Killer article because he got this strange EMAIL from Nigeria of all places:

Johnson has always been pro-government and pro-war. He supported Bush after 9-11 because he was the same and pretty much feels the same way about Obama for similar reasons. He is more consistent than often given credit for.
I remember when he thought global warming was a crock....I remember when he thought Rush Limbaugh was A-OK......I remember when he didn’t approve of people who attend Nation of Islam rallys.............

I’m well aware he was no conservative. We are all aware. But there was a day when he was considered an honest broker in his affairs and a serious Patriot on WOT and against Islamofascism. This has changed.
His site used to be among my first visits. Nothing has replaced his site for me since he took this turn. I wish it were different.

Same here. He does get props for introducing me to Iowahawk and AtlasShrugged’s blogs, too, but I rarely go there anymore. Account still active, still some (rarer and rarer) gems there, but it’s just not my cup of tea anymore.

Don’t people boil live lobsters. What’s all the fuss about a frog?.....Hell, last July I fried 48 of the li’l jumpers in garlic, butter and basil and was the hero of the cookout. The kids I took frog hunting still think I’m Dan’l Boone or something.
Okay, I’ll take your word for it. I never particularly followed the site. I was especially disgusted by it when in early 2008 made an all-out effort to smear Ron Paul as a Nazi. Like him or hate him, that was out of line. Johnson SHOULD have lost all respectability from conservatives after that.
Boiling a frog is absolutely barbaric.
The civilized thing to do is season and bread the hind legs and sauté them. Never boil them. Discard the rest of the frog.
