Print Headline: "Patriots or Pinheads? Tea Party movement must contain its extremes"
... For its critics, the tea party was a rabble-rousing mob of right-wing hotheads and religious nuts who lack the education to know the difference between a communist and a Nazi but who are sure that our black president is both.
The truth is surely closer to what Byron York of The Washington Examiner said he saw a wide variety of people espousing different points of view, united in their fear of the future and bedrock belief that Washington is not to be trusted.

Yet if you aren't at least a bit concerned over some of the things on display at the tea party, you aren't thinking it through. Many of the demonstrators' lurid signs bore insane and repugnant messages about Obama. Some utterings, as from the marcher who called the Constitution an extension of the Bible, are extreme. The anger among the marchers was worryingly inchoate.
The tea partiers' main problem is lack of responsible leadership to bring focus, coherence and moderation to their movement. (TV conspiracy crackpot Glenn Beck is a sad choice for a movement guru.) It's more ironic that former House big shot Dick Armey is a key organizer and the current GOP is cynically fanning the flames given that he was part of the Washington GOP establishment responsible for the big-government overreach the tea partiers claim to despise.
The tea party movement deserves to be taken seriously. But until and unless it finds a way to police its radical fringes and articulate its critique in a constructive, rational way that appeals to the great middle it will not be. And must not be, except as an example of how not to win allies or influence debate."

So glad the DMN is all over this kind of signage at a rally!!
Oh, the hypocrisy. I keep hearing liberals talking about those terrible signs at the tea parties maligning Obama--I WANT EVIDENCE!

Tea Party movement must contain its extremes
Or what? They'll wake up to find a Marxist president in the Oval office whose party has super majorities in both houses of congress?

Dick Armey spoke, but he is not an organizer! We organize only to the extent that we communicate and cooperate, no one is giving orders, and no external funds are being used.

The Pravda Media willfully supressed coverage of these banners at the so called "antiwar/peace" rallies:

nuts who lack the education to know the difference between a communist and a Nazi Communism is NOT antifascist. The Communists protested AGAINST the US going to war against Nazi Germany until Hitler betrayed their beloved Joseph Stalin, butcher of millions.

But until and unless it finds a way to police its radical fringes. The radical fringes I know about are inside the Whitehouse.

unless it finds a way to police its radical fringes and articulate its critique in a constructive, rational way that appeals to the great middle LOL. I was there. A million and a half of pretty much nothing but the "great middle". IMO, that was part of what was so uplifting and inspiring, this was middle America awakened.

Great work, and also to the poster of the pictures below from the anti-Bush rallies. I was there with the wife and there was no signage whatwover that was not true and none like the ones against Bush that were so common among those now doing the race calling and protesting. Even more obnoxous lying was that of the peanut farmer, he who used to praise Lester Maddox. The urinalists are getting all clogged up with an overflow of crap.

The Dallas Morning News is one of THE most liberal leaning rags in the US. I only take the weekend editions for the obits, crosswords and TV schedule for the next week. Everything else they waste paper and ink on is just BS.

My elderly FIL, visiting from India, has a daily routine-drink coffee, read newspaper front to back, eat an orange or a banana. Every day.
As soon as my in-laws go home, the subscription ENDS. (Again. We were long time subscribers years ago until our blood pressure couldn’t take it any more.)
