One week after President Obama’s speech to Congress, opposition to his health care reform plan has reached a new high of 55%. The latest Rasmussen Reports daily tracking poll shows that just 42%now support the plan, matching the low first reached in August.
A week ago, 44% supported the proposal and 53% were opposed. Following the speech last Wednesday night intended to relaunch the health care initiative, support for the president’s effort bounced as high as 51% (see day-by-day numbers). But the new numbers suggest that support for health care reform is now about the same as it was in August.
Seventy-four percent (74%) of Democrats now support the plan while 80% of Republicans are opposed. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 67% are opposed.

IMO, the Dems blew it. Obama was getting a solid bump. And then they started playing the race card with Joe Wilson and 912 event. Bad move.

These are the important numbers, not Obama’s personal job approval figures. Obama won’t be up for election until 2012, and whether he’s popular personally or not won’t be important to the average Democrat Congressman or Senator who has to defend his vote on this Communist powergrab.
It basically comes down to those 200 weak-kneed Representatives in the middle. The true leftists are usually in safe districts, so they can vote for this without fear. The ones in the middle, may want to vote for more government, and more power, but will they do it while risking their jobs? My guess is no.
Yep, the first 55 times Obama tried to pimp his plan on national TV did not work, but I am sure tries #56-60 will turn things around.
Maybe so, but the fact that Obama could not change the numbers significantly has to be driving them crazy. He’s the big gun - what else do they have left?
I remain firmly convinced that the Dems are going to ram this thing through regardless of what the American people say. Once it gets passed it will be almost impossible to overturn and their goal will be accomplished. Same with Cap and Tax. They are not truly afraid of the American people. I do wonder what the breaking point will be to cause an actual armed revolution or an actual state seceding...
