"The Success of our Economy Depended On It"

The president was in Pittsburgh, Pa. speaking to a group from the AFL-CIO when he defended his decision to bail out the automakers like this.

Kicking off a day of outreach to blue-collar America, President Barack Obama defended his bailout of the auto industry, saying "the success of our economy depended on it."

"Our belief was that if GM retooled and reinvented itself for the 21st century, it would be good for American workers, good for American manufacturing, and good for America's economy," Obama said. "I'm pleased to report that's exactly what's begun to happen at this plant and at others."

"Our belief was that if GM retooled and reinvented itself for the 21st century, it would be good for American workers, good for American manufacturing, and good for America's economy,"

The free market could have done that with no direct cost to the taxpayer. The problem for Obama would have been the UAW may very well have ended up out on the street as GM was sold piece meal, the best facilities and tools going to other auto manufacturers like Toyota and Honda.

The truth is, he wanted to save GM-host for the UAW-malignancy.

Unfortunately I happened by the TV has he was one (go figure what are the odds?) and I heard him telling 2 whoopers, 1 was that it was Labor who was going to rebuild this country and 2 was that it was the previous administrations reckless tax cuts that caused these deficits that he must now deal with.

I mean come on, I know he was speaking to the AFofLCIO but does he think everyone is stupid?

There are many ‘stupid people’ Decades of social design have left millions without the basic personal survival principles. Much less, empathy for their fellow human beings.
