Why Eggheads Shouldn't be Running Things
The American Thinker ^ | September 15, 2009 | Andie Brownlow

Philosophers and career-thinkers from academia have a place. I can appreciate their zeal and gift for boundless thought. I can even realize that some of their ideas may shape our future for the better. I draw the line however, at giving them stewardship or power over policies that directly affect the country. Policies should come from practical, time tested sources, not radical ideas from people whose purpose is to think of new ways of doing things.

Thinkers are mostly just that -- thinkers, not doers. There is a huge gap of scrutiny and trial & error before an idea should be implemented as policy. This is why our "czars" should not be plucked from a lifetime spent in universities to implement their untested ideas on a national level. (I don't think we should have any czars, but that's a topic for another time.)

Unless one has personally felt the threat, physical or financial, from the consequences of one’s decisions, one should not be in a position to govern those that have. This is why military officers crave combat experience and why most (if not all) of the czars should be back washing cars.

I thought Jefferson was an egghead who cooked up some bizarre ideas about limited government, men being created equal and blah blah blah.

Lincoln was a egghead too. I mean freeing slaves, what the hell is that about ?

Sounds like liberal claptrap to me.

Have you ever tried to live on minimum wage ? Have you been Poor ? When have you been homeless ? Try living paycheck to paycheck before condemning the poor. Try it sometime. blah blah blah.

implement their untested ideas on a national level.

What ideas does the left have that are untested? They know from history exactly what results they're going to get, and they want them. Conservatives misunderstand the left's goals and definition of success. Cuba is their model of success.

Proof positive of the idea that “smarter is ALWAYS better” was the administration of JFK and the “whiz kidz” like MacNamara, that bastard.

I heard that McNamara felt pretty bad about his mistakes. Somehow I don’t think this current bunch would ever give a damn no matter how much damage they caused.
