This looks better than what my mother used to make 30 years ago.

Ten years ago, many restaurants offered chicken tortilla soup, but it has fallen out of fashion.

I’ll have to try this recipe, though I’ll leave out most of the spices. I can’t eat much in the way of pepper, for medical reasons.

Awwwww, jeez. No cilantro? And ucky! on the mexicorn and why would you cook the chicken and use canned chicken broth? Did they throw away the delicious broth from the chicken after they cooked it. Tortilla soup is supposed to be translucent not full of mexicorn floating around. The cheese goes on top so when you take a spoonful of soup you get that great stringy hot cheese on the spoon. They forgot the pico de gallo, sour cream and extra chopped cilantro to srinkle on top. Also, have some hot soft corn torillas to butter and roll up. Yummmmy.

Soup was delicious. I also added about 1/3 lb of ground beef to the chicken because it was left over from last nights cooking. Did not want it let it go bad. I also added cilantro. The cumin really added zest too. This recipe is a keeper. Thanks.
