As criticism of the President's national address builds his administration is still refusing to release the text of his comments to be made on Tuesday. As a result, it is becoming increasingly clear that the White House is likely to tone-down the contents of his speech in an attempt to embarrass President Obama's political opponents.
On Tuesday, it is likely that the President will have abandoned his original plans to inject his social agenda into the schools, by instead giving a non-controversial speech centering upon how great this nation is and how "cool" it is to study. When the speech ends, the mainstream media will publish story upon story as to how ...

So I've used it as an opportunity to teach him about how dictators acquire and maintain power by monopolizing the media and manipulating their public image to create a cult of personality. He "gets it" because I have taught him what to look for. I have allowed him to make a choice whether to go to school on Tuesday. So far, he is choosing to go. At this point I don't mind if he goes because it will merely serve to reinforce the point of the lesson.
We have also discussed the strong likelihood that the speech that will be given will be dramatically different from the speech that was planned, that the "new and improved" speech will be designed to allay overt concerns while inferentially painting protesting parents as thoughtless reactionaries and racists.
But my son knows that whatever the verbal message, it is the "presence" message of Big Brother omnipresence and power, unspoken, that Obama is really anxious to serve up. My son is now reading Orwell's 1984 to understand the broader context of dictatorial psychological control over everyday citizens.
If he does go, we'll discuss it further when he returns.
I agree... there are always going to be the diehard obamabots..... my brother in indy is one of them... they have the mass of humanity, but serious doubt many have the will or the courage to fight for their convictions...
The problem is those that are tabbed to keep a check on the pulse of the real political atmosphere are such psychophants to obama they dare not tell him anything but what the anointed one wants to hear.
I’m impressed - good for you.
It’s a shame that at least half of the households in the US have no clue. Products of the public school system, I imagine.
If he does that, then the protests will have had the correct effect.
There is nothing wrong with a President recording a message to students. The problem was that it was clear this president could not be trusted to keep politics out of it.
Not only do we have his entire history of making everything political, but we have the official Education department web site which told teachers to have students provide a goal of how they would “help the President” with his agenda.
The department of course got rid of that, but it’s existance proves that the original plan was to politicize this.
Personally, I won’t infect my child with small pox just so he would get immunity.
Laughable...
His magic is gone...
No one is giving him the benefit of the doubt anymore...
Those “independants” are running away in droves....
You are a lame duck, Mr. Resident...(Please credit me, Maverick with obama’s new nickname...)
My thoughts are this: He will likely take the main point to the Ohio gathering that he wishes to increase pell grant, or federal loans to college students further. However, this approach is striking the branches instead of the root: That the tuition costs are rising, and perhaps pressure needs to be put on individual schools to try and reduce their costs a little, and perhaps, some sort of demand should be on less cost to the course materials, of course, as predictable as it is, the promise will be presented as additional loans handed out to make it through school.
