Obama the Mortal
Washington Post ^ | 09/04/2009 | Charles Krauthammer

What happened to President Obama? His wax wings having melted, he is the man who fell to earth. What happened to bring his popularity down further than that of any new president in polling history save Gerald Ford (post-Nixon pardon)?

What an interesting line...

We'll have him smoking a pack a day in no time.

I've never seen a president with sheer hate in his heart...till now....

true colors showing (excerpt)..

But the idea of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi pulling Obama left is quite ridiculous. Where do you think he came from, this friend of Chávista ex-terrorist William Ayers, of PLO apologist Rashid Khalidi, of racialist inciter Jeremiah Wright?

Great article. Obama’s hubris and arrogance is nonpareil in the history of American politics. Pride comes before a fall.

An absolutely great article.

Let's be clear: This is a fall, not a collapse. He's not been repudiated or even defeated. He will likely regroup and pass some version of health insurance reform that will restore some of his clout and popularity.

I'm not so sure what we are witnessing isn't a complete collapse in the making. I disagree that passage of some sort of health care bill will do anything more than make things worse for Obama.

People are sick and tired of even talking about health care, they are focussed on their jobs and the probability that if things keep heading where they are heading they will lose their job. The economy is being ignored while we discuss health care, and people are beginning to feel duped-we passed the stage of distrust some time ago.

“But for the first time since election night in Grant Park, he will appear in the most unfamiliar of guises — mere mortal, a treacherous transformation to which a man of Obama’s supreme self-regard may never adapt.”

-— We can only hope.

Brilliant article that historically traces the steps of a fool in both actions and self deluded fantasies.

What you said, and also, the foolishness of believing his own press, which bought into and has fed his “supreme self-regard.”

It’s going to be hard sailing for Mr O’s plans from here forward.

Presidents have 6 months after inauguration to get stuff done; after that, Congresscritters start primping themselves in the mirror for the next election cycle, and they push the President’s interests to the side.

He might be able to get some limp-wristed minor initiatives through Congress, but after a raucous summer facing torches and pitchforks, Congress is in self-protection mode.

He’s almost a lame duck 8 months in.

I haven’t been calling him Barack “Icarus” Obama for nothing.

Many knew from the beginning that Obama is an empty suit; others are finally opening their blind eyes. Simply put, this man is not very smart.

I think we should stay on health care because the next big project of his will be AMNESTY!

I saw Charles last night on the Fox All Stars and I think he predicted that this Jones character would be gone by Monday. One can only hope.

But I wonder if Obama even sees that there is a problem with this guy. I keep going back to his ‘see who I surround myself with when I become president’ comment. He must think this dude is impressive, at least in his warped leftist worldview.

I think Charles has written one of his best commentaries that sums up this self deluded fool we have as President.
