He's Not Jimmy Carter. Obama has far more dangerous objectives
American Spectator ^ | 9/4/09 | Quin Hillyer

Conservatives are taking too much solace in the precipitous drop in Barack Obama's approval ratings, and too many of us are overconfident that his administration is merely a replay of the hapless presidency of Jimmy Carter that was easily swept out in a landslide election. Today's situation is far different, far more conducive to our political adversary's political power, than that which faced Carter. And Obama is an entirely different breed of cat. He's more ruthless, more tactically savvy, and has far more dangerous objectives. A drop in his poll ratings isn't as serious a setback for him as similar occurrences were for the peanut farmer from Plains. In short, conservatives should beware. The political battle we're in is far more difficult than any the conservative movement has ever faced. It will take all our energy and all our smarts to win it.

This seems so much bigger than just Obama, well planned out, organized and funded. Very anti-American agenda.

Jimmy Carter, however, did not have conservative radio, Fox news, email, facebook, twitter, FreeRepublic.com or numerous other conservative blogs to INSTANTLY deliver information to concerned Americans. Look how quickly parents reacted to the “propaganda for school kids” being delivered by Obama. During the Carter years, parents probably would not have known about it unless Walter Cronkite told them. It’s a different world, and the Right realizes how vehemently the Left went after Bush. The pressure, now, from the right will not let up. Too many people got a “rude awakening” as to the real agenda of the current administration when Nationalized Health Care reared it’s ugly head.

Excellent post.

It is funny how many of us knew, almost instinctually, this was what was happening. Perhaps, because so many of us are students of history we recognize the patterns.

Oddly much of my west coast residing family is out of the country for the better part of the next year. My sister, crediting a higher power, thinks it is no small coincidence. She feels something bad is on the horizon.

As his conventional political power declines, he and his associates become more, not less, dangerous.

“What Is To Be Done” is an ur-text for these people. As a self-confident revolutionary vanguard, the moment will come when they must choose between accomodation and revolution.

It is right to be concerned over how they will choose.

“Right now, the public is beginning to blame 0bama for how badly the war is going in Afghanistan. And its going to get a lot worse there.”

What, you mean the “spare civilians at all costs” rules of engagement aren’t a brilliant idea?

Sad that our excellent military is hamstrung by a worthless “commander in chief”.

I didn't vote for either candidate in 2008. Early on, I had no idea who BHO was. As I learned more and more, it became worrisome. Yet, you could never convince anyone before the election.

Now I see more and more people starting to wake up.

He can be beat, but don't assume it's 1980

However, because he is such a narcissist, that came be used. Look how he responded to claims made by now private citizen Palin on Facebook. He cannot stand the slightest of criticisms.

In my experience, people like that crumble, provided he doesn't take the country with him

And that's the light. During the Carter years, you had a few networks and papers. Now there is more info than I ever thought I would see.

And that's why I think any attempt to silence will be met with fierce opposition. It would become even more clear to average folks what this administration is all about, even if they don't care for Rush or Beck themselves

A superficial look at Obama would reveal a man of poise and great self-confidence. I agree with you, all the self-assurance is on the surface. He seems fully in control because he thinks the natural laws of the world agree with his Weltanshaaung. That worldview has come to him as prefabricated as a TV dinner. He thinks the way he does it cause he thinks according to Seoul Alinsky and other sources of leftist- think. Can you imagine someone being shepherded through Harvard as a pampered Negro really being challenged at his bed rock? All he had to do was learn how to talk the Harvard talk and he would be petted and nurtured and made the affirmative action head of the Law Review.

I'm old enough to have known many people who have gone through EST, a very popular mind control psychological groupie phenomenon of the 1970s. It was called the McDonald's of pop psychology. It quite deliberately stripped away the belief of the newbie and left him destitute and psychologically vulnerable. Now enter the self-assured EST trainer to fill the void with his worldview. Barack Obama is nothing but an EST trainer plundering the brains of those he has psychologically denuded. Be not mistaken, the aplomb and stage presence of these Est trainers was remarkable. Their hold on their flock was simply not to be believed if you did not witness it. We called their victims "EST-holes.”

I was revolted by it because it was anti-spiritual, indeed, even Satanic in some respects. But from a secular point of view, it changed lives and it had an extraordinary hold over its adherents and it gave them a self-confidence of verging on an unbecoming condescension to those not privileged to their secret understanding of the world.

Of course the whole thing came crashing down and we no longer hear about that psychological aspects of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and I will One more observation about those infected with EST: its adherents were virtually impervious to logic because the belief system had an internal consistent logic that is typical of cults. That is why it is so difficult to save teenagers who have been drawn into a cult. That is why Whittaker Chambers described adherence to the communist ideology to being akin to religious fanaticism.

11 Unless and until something traumatic happens to shatter utterly Barack Obama's belief system, he will never vary from its internal logic. It is that belief system that gives him a self-assurance and protects his narcissism. Can you imagine how much he must have loved being the instructor under Saul Alinsky? He must be seen as a cult member. That is why he is so dangerous. When confronted as our chief of state with a threat to our national security he will not view it as you and I do. He will see it as a cultist sees it. That is why we think he is cold-blooded, for example, the cause he can so cavalierly dismiss caring for a baby who somehow miraculously survived a botched abortion. The cultist is almost zombielike and utterly without feeling apart from stimuli from approved sources.

As a narcissist and as a cultist, Barack Obama simply does not have the human empathy we share. He does not entertain the patriotism that comes to us with Coca-Cola and Tootsie Rolls as part of our American experience. It is not that he spent his youth in foreign lands, it is that his brain has been washed.

It is not for nothing that I call him the Manchurian Marxist.

As usual, your postings all well thought out and make a good read. Big two thumbs up.

However, a narcissitic cult leader is dangerous. Mostly to a few. This one currently is in charge of the economic and military well being of this country.

Gives you pause, doesn't it??

Sure, because Americans exercising their Constitutionally protected rights peaceably is equivalent to the Reichstag phony terror incident. The reason these rights have been infringed is because we have as a people, allowed them to be, and they will continue to be until we stop allowing it to be done. The only way to stop it is to exercise our rights in defiance of any extralegal restrictions that have been placed on them, in a manner which the Government is unable to do anything about. Once that is done for our 2nd Amendment rights, I have a feeling all the other illegal impositions on our freedoms would be quite easy to rectify by simply petitioning our representatives by more conventional means.
