Audi President: Chevy Volt Is a Car for Idiots
the Intellectual Elite Who Want to Show What Enlightened Souls They Are. Few consumers will be willing to pay $40,000 base price for a car that competes with $25,000 hybrids... So there are not enough idiots who will buy it. The Audi of America president ended with a bold prediction: The Volt will fall flat. And the federal government, having publicly forced GM to develop electric cars, will subsidize the Volt to save face and boost sales. CNET recently reported GMs astronomical claim of the Volts 230 mpg are false, and a more realistic evaluation put the cars fuel economy at 48 mpg.

Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL! Even the Euro car people are sick and tired of hearing this green crap.
There is a reason why they call them the “Toyota Pious.”
He’s probably right, but I have to laugh a bit at the idea of the president of Audi accusing Chevrolet of making vehicles for any sort of “elite.”
Yes, I belive that claim will be it's undoing. Only way you can get close to that is to have all conditions perfect for 40 miles. Super charged batter, Tailwind, no turns, stops, absolutely smooth surface, right speed, and no other electronics operating. A jokey of a driver (weights under 100 pounds) is needed and the list goes on and on.
When drivers figure out it won't even go 230 Miles on a charge and full tank, that will be the end of it.
Is that capacitor design safe from blowing up if damaged?
Only Dolts will buy Volts.
Chevy Volt Is a Car for Idiots”.....
How refreshing is the truth?.....
Audi builds cars for people who know better, and can afford it. Nothing “elite’ about having money for an exceptional car.
He said “intellectual elites” and he’s right.
People who think they know better, regardless of facts or scientific arguments to the contrary. People who’d look at the Volt and think, “What a great idea!”
And, he’s right.
The Volt is dead end that will be put on life support by the goobermint.
Expensive with extremely low range and long recharge times.
GM started it with its stupid “230 mpg” nonsense.
>>>Chevy Volt Is a Car for Idiots”<<<
Yes, but they are useful idiots.
A friend of my parents has a Pious. The last time I saw her, I was on the receiving end of a nauseating self-righteous rant abut how she was saving the planet. Gag me.
I seem to recall a study done by an automotive trade paper about the motives behind buyers of the Pious, Ford Escape, & Honda Civic. It seems that the Escape & Civic had a hybrid power package designed to fit existing frames, while the Pious was built from the wheels up as a hybrid, and thus more recognizable as such. Enviro-wackos were more likely to buy a Pious than the others because it screamed “Look at me!!! I’m SAVING THE PLANET!!!”
“Only Dolts will buy Volts.”
Volts for Dolts. I like it. Just don’t tell the Car Czar or we’ll have another program.
In the telecomm business, we used to say someone was “a few dB (decibels)down”. Engineer-speak for a half-wit.
I have great tendency to agree with the Audi President.
Toyota Pious
Not for longer than a 1/4 mile.
I’ve seen a battery-powered Honda blow away an early-1990s Ferrari Testarossa.
Doesn’t mean a thing.
Audi makes REAL cars ;)
I won't support government run businesses. They must fail.
