Bush did do it. About drugs.
This is not about Obama just wanting to talk to the kids, it was the Dept of Educations suggested materials that followed it, which they have since backpedeled and withdrawn
I know that Pres. H.W. Bush did this with drugs, etc. and I remember Prs.Reagan had some public service announcements that were played when i was in school, my problem is the lesson plan. “What can you do to help the President with his plan?” Why ask that unless there was something alluded to it in the speech, which begs the question what plan is he talking about in his speech. And I guarantee he talks about getting a good education so that they can better serve their communities or their country. Will he talk about how to serve? Will he bring up community organizations? Now I know they say they are going to reword the lesson plan, however he still opens a door for a well-meaning teacher to inadvertently instill a lesson I may not want instilled in my child.
My kid would survive a root canal too, doesn’t mean I don’t limit his intake of sweets and make sure he brushes his teeth..
I would not let Van Jones, Reverend Wright, Holder, Rahm, Biden, Cass, Browner, any Kennedy, Reid, Pelosi, etc etc talk to my child either!
I do NOT allow politicians access to my children without me being present.(PERIOD) If he truly wants to speak to our children he can do this same presentation and make it available for parents to watch with their children in the comfort of their own homes.
Our Schools do not exist for his personal captive audience desires.....
Let the author have their children be a captive audience for Sarah Palin- then come talk to us....
I do not mind that my child hears the President speak, but I'd prefer he went on TV and spoke to Americans as individuals. Obama doesn't seem to like that, and prefers grandiose settings and staged events. He might be more a bit more successful by remembering that it's not all about him. I know: "good luck" with that.
F*CK YOU Dan Calabrese! Leave MY KIDS alone.
No, because they could be sure that the Left-run public school systems would simply ignore the speech. The networks would decline to run it. The students wouldn't even know it happened.
That would muss up some heads, yo.
MAybe conservatives would be complaining if this was just a speech by Obama about how important school was.
But the speech is a half hour, it said it was a speech calling them to action, and the education web site specifically said the purpose was partly to get kids to pledge to “help Obama”, and that teachers should then require the kids to present an action plan and to remind them of their pledge to help Obama.
That is gone now, but the fact that the government EVER FELT COMFORTABLE putting that on an official web site shows that this administration cannot be trusted to act in a non-partisan manner.
If Obama was to appear in front of school children to read a book, it wouldn’t be an innocous book like Bush was reading on 9/11, it would probably be Carl Marx.
Isn’t he a generally conservative columnist? I don’t think he would be necessarily be up in arms about it.
It isn’t about healthcare. He’s going to tell the kids they needs to look out for others, turn over a new leaf, new way of thinking. It’s Socialism 101. It’s the “right thing to do” to take care of other people...a big subliminal message. Why WOULDN’T you want to help your fellow man? Why WOULDN’T your parents want to pay higher taxes to take care of deadbeats? Why SHOULDN’T we take from the haves and give to the have nots? It’s an anti-Capitalism, anti-Constitution hit piece dumbed down and targeting our kids. I’m not going to sit by and let it happen to my kid who isn’t old enough to understand why we are Capitalists who give our hard-earned money of our own FREE WILL to charities instead of letting the government take it from us as they see fit. She isn’t old enough to get it, but she IS old enough and has been taught to love people and try to help the poor. In this way, she is susceptible to Dear Leader’s propaganda. Not on my watch.
So true, so true!
This should wake up a lot of people but not those who drank the Obamba-Kool-Aid.
My Catholic Italian wife just came home from the church and is very pi$$ed that she still sees Obama bumper stickers on cars in parking lot.
Some in Germany, even as they went to the “showers”, didn’t see it.
Funny, I don’t remember Bush speaking to all public schools at one time. What I do remember is that the Bush administration had to put language in the No Child Left Behind Act to force public schools to allow military recruiters on campus. The anti-war left have been irate over the NCLB ever since. That is the reason that Teddy didn’t vote for his own bill.
The Obama speech is meant as a kick off to prepare (brain wash) kids to prepare them for Obama’s civilian service corps. He just won’t be talking about it in the first speech, he was going to leave the recruiting up to the teachers.
I’m relieved. Sort of. After adding Senator Nasty Al Franken(stein) to dingbat Amy Klobuchar, I was afraid Minnesota might now be home to NorthStarWriters. Not so. Although some of the writers are in, or come from MN, the group is based in that bankrupt bastion of Demidiocy, Michigan. Whew!
I’ll tell you what, you let your kids watch. My daughter will not be watching if I have to keep her home from school that day.
Camel's nose propaganda campaigns need to be quashed.
of course they will SURVIVE, doesn’t mean they ought to sit still for it. only those who see Obama as a benign entity see this as an OK thing to do. i emailed my 15 yo’s principal [she’s in private school] and they do not plan to participate.
My 16 year old daughter said she would just walk out of the classroom. I would back her up. Obama has nothing to say to my family.
You pull your left arm in, you put your right arm out....
You do the okey-dokey and that’s what its all about....
