Absurdity: Media Re-Brand Obama as Kennedy-Like With Photo

Perhaps it is the Brit’s unseemly penchant to slobber over royals, but a recent photo of President Obama has elicited that ever-so-common, shop-worn, knee-jerk royalesque response in the media over there. (Yes, it’s a words-with-dashes sort of day)

The photo of the president at his Oval Office desk while daughter Sasha playfully spies on him from behind a couch has caused the Brit media to raise comparisons to the famous photo of J.F.K at his desk as little John, John plays under it.

At least three British news sources and one Australian outlet absurdly claimed that the Obama photo “invoked” the comparison to J.F.K. to which one can only say, stuff and nonsense. (The Telegraph, SkyNews, The Mail, and the Australian.)

There is no “invoking,” no provoking, no revoking, prevoking or postvoking. There’s no voking at all, but one does wonder what the Brits are toking.

The MSM is becoming a pathetic joke, and it’s desperate state of panic isn’t helping.

I’m in the camp for leaving the kids out of politics. And that includes both political attacks on children and using kids as props (works both ways).

That photo is a pathetic imitation. Even considering how pathetic and cheesy as he is, Obama should still be embarrassed!

Young girls hiding under the White House furniture isn’t “Kennedy”-like.

Despite its spontaneous feel, the image evokes obvious – and possibly intentional - comparisons with famous pictures of a three-year-old John F Kennedy Jr playing under the same desk as his father sat working at it.

From the Telegraph, this statement seems to be some of that classic British understatement, saying, in a more polished way, that the whole thing is BS.

The photo of the president at his Oval Office desk while daughter Sasha playfully spies on him from behind a couch... At least three British news sources and one Australian outlet absurdly claimed that the Obama photo “invoked” the comparison to J.F.K.

On the other hand, Obama's czars and his Attorney General, who playfully ruin the freedoms and the country itself, invoke the comparison to the Nazi Germany, the USSR and to any other totalitarian state.

For shame, you are being most unkind to the memory of former President Nixon! :)

I wonder:

Did a photographer happen to be strolling through the Oval office while obama was looking productive and patriotic and his daughter was playing, and he luckily got a candid shot that reminds us of the last patriotic democrat to sit in that seat?

Or did the photographer spend days evaluating different poses for father and daughter, perhaps even with a focus group, before staging this shot to try to hijack some of the positive aura clinging to the last patriotic democrat?

My guess? From the poses, one would guess that John and Sasha are the same age. From the calendar, one would conclude that John Jr. is two and Sasha is 8. Nice try, spin-masters, but I'm not buying.

My first impression of that photo — staged by the photographer/media.

I didn’t know he ever sat at his desk—too busy campaigning all around the country! Someone needs to tell him the campaign is over, that he won the election, and it’s time he started working. Almost forgot, we need to tell that to his teleprompter.

Obama should still be embarrassed!”

That would presuppose he had integrity, morality, humanity.
