The cash for clunkers law, signed by President Barack Obama, gave the Transportation Department the authority to audit car dealerships at any time, for any reason... the Transportation Department is focusing on possible fraud in the disposal of trade in vehicles. The government is making sure dealers completely destroyed the engines of all trade-ins... The government seems to be more interested in auditing early on rather than paying early on... only 5.7% of all clunkers deals have been reimbursed.

Are these dealers paying interest on this cash they fronted for the Government?
What a joke. Just searching for ways not to pay up, IMO.
Imagine these clowns running National Socialist Health Care, and deciding who gets and operation, and when, and with which doctor at which hospital.
That will be a million times more complex than “cash for clunkers,” and lives will swing in the balance.
I suspect one could expect the same sort of “personal audit” of their finances if you go to the public option of this health care bill. Does the government ever do anything timely? Dealers can not afford to front these rebates too long to the buyers.
What a disgrace. Dealers dumb enough to sign up for this crap will regret the day. Hussein is completely untrustworthy. Something about a “woodpile” comes to mind.
ANY time the government gives you something, it puts a string on it. Get a handout and it thinks it has a right to snoop into your private affairs.
The list, ping
Yep, just seeing those payments being paid late to doctors imported from Lithuania, to do surgery´s...expect long lines. Go to the Post Office and see how the gub´mint always does it´s business.
One dealer I heard was out 8 mill. so far .....
Take the King’s coin, do the King’s bidding.
Cash for suckers program...
They’re gona make us feel sorry for car salesmen... How about that of a crook for you.

Not only will they get the audit, the dealer will get a 1099 for $4,500 IF he can prove he is eligible AND the buyer will get a 1099 for $4,500. Each will pay approximately 40% of their $4,500 and viola government nearly recoups everything either by double taxing it or never distributing it in the first place.
A few government flunkies get to keep their cash for clunker jobs when they start up the new cash for appliances.
Nuts!
Gov’t bait and switch.
