Strike Two: Obama Sics the IRS on the Elderly, Retired
The Nav Log ^ | 9/1/09 | litton51@hotmail.com

Obama is really after older Americans. And I don’t mean in a good way. Adding insult to injury, Obama is adding to his Quality Adjusted Life Years Program (more commonly known as The Soylent Green, or DeathCare, Option) a new program of persecution by the IRS against home owners who are retired and/or elderly.

According to today’s Wall Street Journal, “…the Internal Revenue Service will expand a program designed to catch tax cheats that searches for inconsistencies between mortgage payments and income. After prompting from an IRS auditor, the agency will study whether it should make greater use of data on mortgage-interest payments provided to it by banks. The IRS currently uses such data to send notices to non-filers who it believes should have filed a return. The data could also be used to target for audits individuals who don't file tax returns, or who report less income than they paid in mortgage interest, according to a letter released Monday by the Treasury inspector general for tax administration. The IRS move will expand a regional research project on mortgage interest to a nationwide level by December 2011. Such initiatives, called Compliance Initiative Projects, typically involve examination of a small number of tax returns to evaluate new enforcement strategies…”

In other words, if you own a home, pay a mortgage, and are elderly/retired/living from pensions and investments, you can expect to be pummeled by the IRS as part of Obama’s campaign against older Americans. Perhaps he can squeeze even more money out of people who have worked and saved and give it to his supporter base of the lazy, the mean, the stupid, and the pomegranate. It’s a small step from, “Obama will pay my rent! Obama will pay for my gasoline! Obama will give me free health insurance!” to ‘Obama will give me the money selfish old people have!’

Perhaps the unctuous Robert Gibbs can be asked about this at the next White House news conference.

What if a person had been in a coma for several years and suddenly regained consciousness?

President Obama?

A Marxist in the White House?

Obama wants to kill off American seniors because they have some understanding of The Constitution, O wants to give illegal aliens, unions, third worlders, ACORN types the AMERICAN seniors social security and medicare.

In addition - he wants to sick the IRS on seniors and steal their life savings with higher estate taxes.

If I woke up now from a 2-year coma I would think I was living in a bad “Sliders” episode

That's been in the back of my mind for a few months now. The only ones who are a living history of what has transpired have stood in the way of the revisionist's wet dream. With the dumbing down of academia, it's a simple task to lead the sheep to slaughter after we're gone. We are also the last living archives of what it means to have a Constitutionally protected right. Even if this the smallest of Braxton Hicks contractions, the birth pangs have started. The wheels are set in motion. Bottom line is those who are 55 and over are in the way of a very sinister agenda.

I'm missing where this is supposed to be targeting the elderly and retired.

As much as I hate the IRS and our out-of-control tax system, it makes sense that they would take a hard look at people who claim to be paying more in mortgage interest than their reported income would allow (i.e. paying more interest than they claim they are making). One would think that would be a red flag for anyone.

Perhaps someone has a reasonable explanation as to why someone would do this, but I can't think of one.

As long as the Social Security and medicare welfare payments come every month, you ain't going to hear squat from the over 62 crowd.

And where are the GOP Complainign about htis? NOWHERE! They shoudl be screaming bloody murder fro mthe pulpits in congress, but al lyou can hear are crickets chirping! Obama is indeed evil, but what really gets my goat is hte fact that the republicans are almost entirely silent on the issues, and refuse to vigourously oppose issues like htis, and expose Obama for what he TRULY is- instead we get peopel like Bob Dole laying out plans as to how Obama ‘could make his health care reform a success’ if he would ‘only do such and such’ We DO NOT WANT ANY health care reform by big government! Plain and simple, but we ARE goign to get soem kind of reform which WILL give government a foot in the door which will enable them to enact further liberty dissolving measures i nthe future, and hte GOP is almost entirely silent on the issue- Afraid of being seen as ‘obstructionists’?

Remember what zero is reported to have said about the elderly - “useless eaters” and a “waste of medical resources”. Combine his communist agenda with the jack-booted thugs of the IRS and you have a perfect political storm brewing.

IMO, zero has underestimated our williness to actually use the guns we have been stockpiling to resist his tyrannical wet dreams. I also believe that a lot of military commanders will be extremely reluctant to give their troops an order to fire on freedom-loving Americans who don’t love zero’s “d(h)opey-changey” policies.

That is insulting.....we save, we invest, and we vote religiously.....you must be referring to the MSM portrayal of the retired... Haven't you been attending or at least watching the town halls?

Sounds like you watch too much Keith Oberman...and Bill Maher.

Look, I want health reform. There are SOME GLARING gaps in the current system. What I don't want is the throw the baby out with the bath water approach the Democrats believe is necessary to effect the reform.

There are so many things that could be done incrementally that would begin to eliminate those horrific stories of those who are ill being hung out to dry (I might add through the CURRENT LEGISLATION in effect RIGHT NOW that causes these gaps). If anybody on the left thinks that I don't want the best health care for everyone, they are a lying, stinking sack of caca — pond scum. What I don't want is more of the same flawed legislation that has brought us to this point.

‘‘Obama will give me the money selfish old people have!’

Day by day, that appears to be the case. Just to demonstrate how this incrementalism can creep into reality, check this...

Most of the world's population survives on processed rations produced by the massive Soylent Corporation (Portmanteau from soy(bean) + lent(il)), including Soylent Red and Soylent Yellow, which are advertised as "high-energy vegetable concentrates". The newest product is Soylent Green - a small green wafer which is advertised as being produced from "high-energy plankton".

" But agritech companies such as Monsanto, Pioneer and Syngenta go further. For a decade their user agreements have explicitly forbidden the use of the seeds for any independent research. Under the threat of litigation, scientists cannot test a seed to explore the different conditions under which it thrives or fails. They cannot compare seeds from one company against those from another company. And perhaps most important, they cannot examine whether the genetically modified crops lead to unintended environmental side effects."

"In the meantime, Roth examines oceanographic reports (that Thorn took from Simonson's apartment) with other intellectuals at the "supreme exchange," a library of old books. The other books convince Roth of a "horrible" truth, which despite reading it for himself he finds almost impossible to believe. The "books" intend to use the overwhelming evidence against the Soylent Corporation and to prove what Soylent is doing before taking it to the Council of Nations. ( agritech companies have given themselves veto power over the work of independent researchers?) Unable to live with what he has uncovered, Roth opts for assisted suicide or active, voluntary euthanasia (euphemistically known as "going home") at a government clinic."

Doesn't sound so unfamiliar as it did in 1973, huh? Actually getting kinda hard to tell the difference between the movie and current events.

Little Zerø is really moving us into the "future" isn't he?

Ah, may I direct your attention to the many videos of the town hall meetings? Those aren't still-wet-behind-the-ears, young whippersnappers questioning/cheering/booing. Nope. They're the folks you apparently assume are being bought.

I don't believe that. Well, let me revise that, I don't WANT to believe that. What I want to believe is that we all want what is do-able without sacrificing anyone on the altar of the culture of death. Seniors, rightly or wrongly, are dependent on those programs. If you think the meager savings my parents had covered the Carter inflation, the oil inflation, you are sadly mistaken. My father was in the higher bracket of wage earners in the U.S. back in the 1960s and he made $40,000 a year, plus benies. You have to remember who is living on what they could manage to save from current salaries back then. The position he held back then, at one point paid around $150,000 and now pays higher wages.

It is impossible to expect that $100,000 in savings would carry a senior through all the latest round of higher prices on EVERYTHING that is ESSENTIAL to the survival of older people. To speak of them as greedy grasping bastards is unthinkable. We can try to eliminate the fraud that elderly minds can't always be aware of. You should see the nursing home scams. Yet, it's the poor schmo of a senior citizen that gets the bad rap. Try the 20 and 30 somethings that work for the health care for profit providers. Let's put THEM under the microscope.
