All it takes is a couple of drinks and some friendly words of encouragement.
I'm European and I love the US for many good reasons.
Where to begin?
Well, I guess decent food always matters.
There are some truly magnificent places to eat, inspired by the American steakhouse tradition, where I live (Gothenburg, Sweden).
I know one thing:

My friends and family love the US for this chain of restaurants, which is nice, but I keep on urging them to try and discover the SPIRIT that is America, not only the facade and the treats of it.
Because I love America, what it represents and because I believe everyone around this world who isn't downright insane ought to feel the same way!
In France, many support Sarkozy in rejecting the stance Chirac maintained towards America.
I can tell, as I've enjoyed two holidays in France this year and been speaking a lot to all sorts of people regarding this issue.
But what about the infamous Socialists up North?
We Swedes are known for being producing people like Blix.
True Americans rightfully despise such Europeans and all others who still support ideas like that of Communism.
I can see why.
But are all Europeans Socialists?
Apparently, the good people of Europe, people who get out of bed each morning in order to do their job, make money for and defend our continent don't care much for Marxist nonsense.
A tiny European nation like Sweden sends troops to Afghanistan, because we believe democracy is worth defending and Islamofascism must be defeated.
Some things in life are simple.
Furthermore, many Europeans are growing more and more tired of high taxes.
Let's continue to talk of how things are overe here in Sweden, Socialist Hell on Earth.
Sweden is presently lowering income taxes because we, the consumers, agree we can afford even more of luxury and less of Socialist bureuacracy.
I drive a fully equipped Volvo V70 despite being very much of a loser (compared to middle class Swedes) and I don't exactly regret living in a country which has abandonded Socialism.
My future looks very nice indeed, despite being comparatively poor.
Europe isn't Sweden, but I would like to say this is the shape of things to come.
Europe WILL change and no, America is not alone. Whether we quarrel for a million years from now or not.
You are our eternal sisters and brothers and NOTHING will ever change that!
Let's crush Islamofascism once and for all and continue the spirit of the Renaissance!!

I love the people of your country and I’d like to live there if it weren’t so darn cold and dark for such a long time. If the Swedes could export their nation, culture, attitude, and architecture to north Africa, that would be fine.

- Why not invade Somalia?
Swedish forces did well in Kongo some decades ago and are presently showing much of bravery in Afghanistan.
South Africa has expressed a great deal of gratitude towards Sweden and perhaps Somalia one day will.
Sweden as a nation knows how to counteract crimes against humanity, but although we are rich and have a proud military tradition, we need allies in order to truly alter another culture.
In the case of Somalia, my impression is that few Western and few rich Arab nations seem to care about the havoc in that corner of the Earth.
Many Westerners believe there's little we could do about any part of Africa whatsoever and that there's little point in sending any more more money there.
Most of it will end up on Swiss bank accounts, so what good does this kind of foreign aid do from an African point of view?

Great nations sometimes chose incompetent leaders, yes, but such nations also tend to survive them in the long run.
Could Europe and America make friends again?

Can Europe (Western and Central Europe,that is) and the US ever be friends again? I fear not.Fully explaining would take days.But I'll cite one example and direct you to one website.
The example:In the 80's there was a very large and very active organization in Europe called the Campaign For Nuclear Disarmament ("CND").When the elder Bush was President,and *particularly* when Reagan was President,they would..just about every week...organize a huge demonstration (*many* thousands of people) in the center of some large European city (London,Paris,Madrid,Rome,West Berlin,etc) calling Reagan a dangerous cowboy bent on bringing the whole world to rubble and demanding that the US scrap *all* her nuclear weapons.Never was there mentioned a single word about the USSR's leaders (or nuclear weapons)...just Reagan and our weapons.
Well,a funny thing happened after the Berlin Wall fell.Among the millions of documents (many of them having been shredded) found in East German government offices were documents *proving* that the CND...that principled and courageous organization that believed that if *only* the US would scrap *all* of her nuclear weapons the world would be a *wonderful* place....was a wholly owned subsidiary of the East German government.Meaning,of course,that it was a wholly owned subsidiary of the USSR.
And now,the link.It's a youtube video from a Brit named Pat Condell.It's one of many he's placed on Youtube,actually.You might find him interesting.But among the many things that occur to me while listening to him,one is...could he be arrested,under current European "anti-racism" laws for what he says in his videos?
These are just two examples of why I'm (very) pessimistic about the US and Western/Central Europe ever again being friends.

- Perhaps I'm somewhat overly optimistic of how Europe and America could unite and slay evil anew just like we did 65 years ago.
My belief is that when both parties realize that we are truly dependent on each other, we will see a change.
I sincerely wish to contribute to such a development.
My ancestors have fought evil for centuries and I see no reason to wave the white flag.
They have been shot at, ambushed, bombarded etc, etc, but have survived and I consider it my obligation to share some of the attitude they possessed in order to survive.
They simply had the right kind of spirit necessary for surviving military conflicts like the Winter War and the Great Northern War.
Hardly surprising, we Westerners still find ourselves at war, decades and centuries after their efforts.
Why not adopt some traditional Swedish discipline and work ethics in this field?
Let's realize we Westerners always will have to fight to remain what we are and continue passing on a great legacy.
Guts will forever remain the key to the survival of civilizations.
Charles XII of Sweden was a great commander.
Since becoming 18, he spent his entire life on battle grounds. The only books he read were the Bible and the memoirs of Alexander the Great.
He understood that sometimes, you've got to make a move ahead of your troops and furthermore have the courage to shout the order of “ - COME!” in situations where other commanders would have rode back to a secure spot and delivered the order of “- Go forth!”.
This is how we Swedes have dealt with the Russians throughout the centuries.
We could never have challenged them relying on our numbers as we are such a small nation.
The US presently leads the WOT and I see nothing wrong with that.
Americans are brave and they know how to organize themselves.
However, when it comes to the WOT, another kind of spirit than that of Obama is needed, we need a man that could change our ways of dealing with (Taliban/Al-Qaeda) guerrilla tactics as well as changing our way of dealing with the way we perceive ourselves.
I believe there WILL be unity and that there WILL be leaders like this again;

P.S i read another article saying that the British hate America and the Jewish.I'm from the south of the UK and know Jewish people ,they are the nicest people you can meet sometimes and same with the Americans.
(Although if I'm honest i think anyone that lives in London or north of london (Liverpool,Scotland,Doncaster,Hull) are the ones with the problems .
