Dick Cheney and Sarah Palin: The Old (but Great) Guard and the Vanguard
Entitlement Syndrome ^ | 08/31/2009 | Scott Michaels

Posted on 08/31/2009 7:56:10 PM PDT by BigKahuna

In all honesty, I've have to admit to no small amount of satisfaction at the direction in which the Republican Party MIGHT be headed if current party leaders are willing to take their cue from the actions and behaviors of two conservative stalwarts named Dick Cheney and Sarah Palin.

For those who were living on another planet the last few days, the former Vice President just fired off another broadside from the battleship Cheney's 16-inch guns, basically calling Barack Obama gutless in the fight against the jihadist (and Islamofascist, to be honest) threat. He also made sure there was no question what he thought of Obama's Attorney General, Eric Holder, and his very ill-advised witch hunt against the CIA operations and interrogations people who've managed to keep all of us safe for nearly 8 years and counting.

As for Sarah Palin, word is she's headed overseas to expound on foreign policy. Gee...I thought what she knew about foreign climes came from standing on her front porch, gazing across the Bering Strait at Russia. At least, that's what you might have believed if you listened only to Tina Fey and the rest of the pseudo intellectual elite, never mind that most have never worked so hard -- on a fishing boat, helping to build their own home, raising 5 children (one developmentally disabled) -- in their own lives to get where Palin has gotten on her own.

… Let Dick Cheney be Dick Cheney and Sarah Palin be Sarah Palin, for she's surely the strongest Republican woman to come down the pike in a long time. What's for certain is that they both seem to get that Republicans don't win anything … when voters aren't sure what you stand for and what you stand against.

OK Palin bashers, she's going to Asia to give a speech. She's "brushing up" like you want her to. What else do you want her to do that will compliment her already 17 years in public service?

Palin = de-facto leader of the both the conservative movement and the GOP.

Cheney/Palin......whoa, that would be a great team. Then after 8 years of that, Palin as prez for another eight. 16 years restoring freedom and our republic.

Obama is the commies last stand, its do or die for them. They have to make it work and they know if they don’t they are going to be thrown onto the dung heap of history along with Stalin and Mao.

We got one helluva fight on our hands!

Greta on Fox said she was going. I believe she really is going if Greta says it.

You know Palin's star is rising when the HuffPost writes a nice article about her: (Hint - If you use Firefox, download Cool Previews and you can hover the link and read the article without giving them the hit)

There’s a link in the full E.S. article to the Business Week article about her going to the conference in Hong Kong in late September.

I blame the GOP for this mess we are in. Liberals will be liberals, their ultimate goal is communism. It's what they are programmed to do, they can't help it.

But the idiotic GOP ran McCain, what a bunch of boneheads ! Running McCain and expecting it to take off was like putting water in your aircraft gas tank and expecting it to take off

Running McCain was sabotage, just like running Dole. I don't know where the top Republicans live, but it's sure not in reality.

"What else do you want her to do that will compliment her already 17 years in public service?"

I want her to sit down and read 10 years of back issues of Naitonal Review, Commentary, and the WSJ Editorial Page.

Then, she'll be ready.

The GOP IMO is infected with the Liberal strain of virus known as RINOSBOGUSITIS. Apparently the leadership of the GOP has been infected severely by this dreaded virus, and will require isolation until they can rejoin the American society.

Interim we need replace them with alert Conservative leadership that knows the virus when they see it, and remains a step ahead of it.

Also Locke, Bastiat, Hayek, Friedman, the Federalist Papers, and Tocqueville-- though I suspect she's read much of this already. The rest, she could knock off by Christmas, and hone to a razor's edge with speeches and columns over the next couple of years. Nothing sharpens your game like speaking or writing on a subject.
