The Obama Administration received political support from an unexpected source when retired Cuban dictator Fidel Castro denounced the rightwing racists opposing this visionary leader and urged all Americans with progressive values to rally behind their new President.
While many Democratic Party leaders were uncertain that this endorsement would necessarily be advantageous, Representative Diane Watson (D-Calif) had no doubts. President Castro is one of the brightest leaders Ive ever met, Watson said. He gave his country a great health care system. If theres anyones advice we should be taking on this issue its his.
Watson argued that Fidels support coming on top of Hugos gives us a potent one-two punch in our fight against the reactionaries trying to mount a counterrevolution against our President. We must stamp out selfish individualism and transform our country to be more socially conscious like Cuba and Venezuela.

Worse than dismal.
The Castro-Kennedy-Obama Health Care Bill. Great comrades think alike.
Why should anyone in this country care what Fidel throws his weight behind? Is this supposed to be a joke?
So, that’s why Clinton met with him last month!
Based upon the fact that Castro flew in a doctor for his surgery, he may be on the Spanish health care plan.
“Based upon the fact that Castro flew in a doctor for his surgery, he may be on the Spanish health care plan.”
That’s because his Cuban doctors would not even be qualified to be an LPN here. Can you imagine going to the hospital and having an LPN diagnose your illness , prescribe your medication or do surgery on you ?
I spent a few years living in Miami in my early 20’s and talked to many older Cubans who came over when Castro took over that country. After reading Animal Farm in my teens I became very interested in why anyone would support communisum so I asked a lot of questions to some of these guys.
Well for one Castro didn’t give them “health care” they had it before ... some type of HMO for the poor if you could not afford private insurance and they had clinics for them to go to but with real doctors. So all these people who champion what he has giving the poor people of Cuba are full o crap.
Cuba was not a third world hole in the wall before Castro. I’ve seen lots of pictures and the island had a very large middle class population.
Today they have Castro’s people who have and then everyone else who have nothing.
