Release of Kennedy Letter to the Pope

Posted on 08/30/2009 9:35:22 AM PDT by PRES BUSH FAN

Catholics generally want communications between themselves and their confessor to remain private. Yet, CNN released excerpts from the recent letter Senator Kennedy sent through the President to the Holy Father. The public release of this letter highlighted the senator’s accomplishments considered pillar liberal causes. Yet, the letter failed to mention the countless abortions, Mary Jo Kopechne’s homicide and the adulteries that this senator caused or enabled. To reach this far, the White House appears nothing less than desperate to further their agenda. Shameful!

Why would a supposed Catholic send a letter through a muslim to The Pope. I hope The Pope circular files the Swimmer’s garbage. Kennedy does not deserve any forgiveness. The Pope’s silence is deafening.

Kennedy and Pelosi bring shame to all Catholics. They are not real Catholics.

“Kennedy and Pelosi bring shame to all Catholics. They are not real Catholics.”

The real shame is the Catholics who attend church on Sunday and think it is Ok to vote for commies like these

Hell I saw a car in the local church parking lot with a " Abortion stops a beating heart" bumper sticker on the left and a Kerry sticker on the right

You are not Catholic if you support abortion...period!

Pelosi, Kennedy, Biden are pseudo Catholics who give actual practicing Catholics a bad name...plus their comments and actions mislead lead other “not so” sophisticated Catholics astray.

...And for those actions alone I would not want to be in there shoes come the day of judgment.

Ive been trashing the Kennedys’ for a long, long time, but out of fear for my own salvation, I try very hard not to judge in that arena.

Amen. In fact there is a report that a priest was seen making regular visits to Kennedy's home over the past few months. I hope he made a good confession and died in God's friendship as we all hope to someday.

Sure, but such Catholics take their cue from the countless priests and bishops in the American church who are political liberals. The Rogers Mahonys, the Ted McCarricks, the American Jesuits, etc. like (and generally agree with) politicians such as Kennedy, Obama et al. It's very different from the situation in countries like Spain and Italy where most of the priests lean right and understand that leftists are enemies of the Catholic faith.

What puzzles me is, how did CNN get a copy of the letter Kennedy had hand delivered to the Pope by Obama.

If it was a private letter to the pope, it should have remained a private letter.

The Pope is not Kennedy’s confessor. Confession and Absolution must occur IN PERSON—not by letter, or telephone, or Vitaphone, or any other medium of communication.

Kennedy’s letter is an obvious attempt to trick the Pope into saying something that appears to commend Kennedy for his “service” and his “faith.” I.e., Kennedy is fishing for compliments.

The Pope didn’t fall for it.

The pro-abortion pansy Cardinal McCarrick did his best to exploit what the Pope DID write.
