The Left’s romance with tyranny and terror continues.
This time it is Democrat Rep. Diane Watson picking up the torch for the fellow travelers, lavishing praise on Fidel Castro.
Watson, evidently, is still riding the wave of ecstasy she experienced upon prostrating herself before Castro on her political pilgrimage to the dictator’s slave camp in April, 2009. Now, in a recent town hall meeting on health care, she’s touching base with the feelings of euphoria she experienced on her totalitarian odyssey.
Watson heaped adulation upon Castro, his blood-drenched revolution and his atrocious health care system, adding that opponents of health care reform in the U.S. were trying to destroy a president “who looks like me.”
"You can think whatever you want to about Fidel Castro,” she affirmed, “but he was one of the brightest leaders I have ever met."

Years ago, a Congressman talking like this would have been roundly criticized, and likely voted out of office. Even liberal Democrats years ago would not have stood for such praise of communism or a communist leader.
How times have changed.
The most rational outcome to expect when somebody is married to a political process (in this case socialism) rather than the alleged intended goal of that process (in this case, the alleviation of poverty and oppression)is that they will tend to support the implementors of that process and the process itself rather than the intended beneficiaries.
Most leftists are married to a process; a means rather than an end. It’s always been that way.
I am surprised it is even legal.
We have to wipe the word “McCarthyism” from our vocabulary because the reason that Joseph McCarthy has been vilified for more than fifty years is that he came too close to the truth and he would not let the story go.
Consider how Castro and Chavez are talked about like they are rock stars when they are nothing but butchers and thugs. Did Joseph McCarthy ever kill anyone? The left has given all sorts of Communist butchers a pass but they treat Joseph McCarthy like he was the worst human being that ever lived. They hate him so much because he was a threat to them.
McCarthy had access to the Venona Papers, but couldn't let on lest the Soviets find out. Thus, everyone he hounded was a bonafide Soviet mole.
The Administration is chock full of Communists planning to destroy us.
The Dems have ALWAYS loved Fidel Castro — they just didn’t say so — but it’s our State Dept that put him into power.
After reading “Blacklisted by History” by M. Stanton Evans, I could see many parallels to what goes on in politics today. What happened at that time was that the inside-the-beltway crowd of that day all circled the wagons and turned on McCarthy because he was embarrassing too many of them and was threatening their careers with his revelations.
Remember that there were actually three investigations of Communists in the government. The McCarthy haters like to focus only on McCarthy's investigation to make it appear that McCarthy was an obsessed lone-wolf making up wild charges without any facts to back them up. But in reality there were two investigations prior to McCarthy's. The first investigation was the Dies investigation. When the Roosevelt administration failed to remove the Communists, there was another investigation several years later, that was the House Committee on UnAmerican Activities during the Truman administration. Again the Truman administration failed to clean out the Communists. Finally, McCarthy came on the scene a few years later and was still getting reports of Communists spying on the Army.
That is when the fat hit the fan. McCarthy was getting a lot of media attention and the American public was beginning to wonder why the problem was not solved after the other two investigations. This is when the Democrats came to the aid of their party and their beloved icon Franklin Roosevelt. The RINOs of that day joined forces with the Democrats and made a majority to censure McCarthy. Of course the major media of that day were worshipers of FDR but the people did not know of their bias back then. So when the Democrats and RINOs and the media turned on McCarthy, his life was over.
Watch how the media and the Democratic machine turn on the tea party people and the town hall protesters. They are doing to these citizens what they did to McCarthy fifty years ago.
