Straight from the icy waters of the Bering Sea, Captain Phil Harris and his sons from the Cornelia Marie, along with Captain Johnathan Hillstrand from the Time Bandit, will make two appearances at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino Showroom Saturday, August 29 at 1 p.m. and at 4 p.m.

I enjoy the Deadliest Catch series. It makes me wish I was 18 again and could try my luck on one of these boats.

I hated Whale Wars when it first came out because of the hippies. But now I watch it with morbid fascination. The hippies on that ship have absolutely no idea what they are doing and it’s kind of funny to watch their reactions as the japanese ships harvest the whales. That and watching them I realize that some of those hippies are going to die in some mishap because they are not experienced sailors and the Southern Ocean is not a very forgiving place to capsize a zodiac or ram your vessel into another ship.

I agree, they know how to work very hard and are not afraid to work hard. There is not a Capt. out there who puts the safety of their ships or crews at more risk than necessary and they not do not put up with ANY BS on their ships!

Great show...that is a very good reality show. If you don’t catch you go out of business real fast because the costs are incredible to run a ship and crew like that.

I’m a Captain Sig fan too. Phil Harris would probably be the most fun to hang out and drink beers with but Sig is a fishing machine. He never loses sight of the reason they are out there. Making money. Why else beat yourself to a frazzle and risk your life?

He was here in Oregon recently at a grocery store, so I guess he’s doing a tour of some sorts. I would be curious as to his thoughts on Sarah Palin. I would guess they considered her a friend in the Statehouse.

Me too. I remember him when he was a teenager. Edgar not so much - just a little shaver - and the wise ass corked me to boot. Sig's also a highliner’s highliner. Nearly away catches more fish than anyone else and has the best markets - gets the most money.

Sig's pretty much just like his old man - tough, independent and always on the fish.
