We were coming home to Cypress from a weekend in Austin, and decided to take a detour and drive down some country roads to do some exploring. We stumbled upon Royers Round Top Cafe in Round Top, Texas (population 77) near Brenham.

Quarter pound of grilled shrimp with bacon, lettuce and tomato served with a smokey mesquite mustard on a sourdough bun. NOTE: THIS IS BEST EATIN' AS A SANDWICH TO GET THE FULL IMPACT OF ALL THE FLAVORS AND NOT PICKED APART --TRUST ME!"

Yummmm-sounds fabulous!

The tiny little town goes way back to frontier times and has a history that can be read in the tombstones of its cemetery.

There are so many tombstones for children who died within days of one another that you can deduce that a cholera epidemic, smallpox, whooping cough or something similar decimated the town back in the 1800s.
