Richard (Dick) Cheney: America’s 1st Helmsmen “We Don’t Want To Leave Anyone On The Battlefield”

Cheney — code-named Angler by the Secret Service — is a lot like fishing in dark water; there’s a lot going on underneath, but you’d never know it from staring at the surface… “I think it’s fair to argue,” said Cheney, “that we’re not going to have the same safeguards we’ve had for the last eight years.”

... It’s a good thing we had Dick Cheney in the Vice President’s office in the days following the 9/11 attacks. Cheney was the right man at the right time in history and was instrumental in launching the counter-attack against al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and across the world, which has kept the United States safe from assault to this day...

You won’t read about Dick Cheney advising the NFL commissioner to kill Michael Vick in today’s Washington Post. The fictional subplot appeared in the long-running “Tank McNamara” comic strip, about a former football player turned TV sportscaster. Post Managing Editor Raju Narisetti told the paper’s “Comic Riffs” blog that the storyline was deemed “inappropriate.”

Hours before they were to leave office after eight troubled years, George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney had one final and painful piece of business to conclude. For over a month Cheney had been pleading, cajoling, even pestering Bush to pardon the Vice President’s former chief of staff, I. Lewis (Scooter) Libby.

..A few days later, about a week before they would become private citizens, Bush pulled Cheney aside after a morning meeting and told him there would be no pardon. Cheney looked stricken. Most officials respond to a presidential rebuff with a polite thanks for considering the request in the first place. But Cheney, an observer says, “expressed his disappointment and disagreement with the decision … He didn’t take it well.”

FTA: Attributed to an unnamed White House official: "We're trying to turn the page, and he's climbing out of the grave to haunt us."

If that's how they view Cheney, they're vastly underestimating him. Should be interesting to see how he reacts to all this, and what he does in the future.

Cheney needs to be our next presidential candidate with Sarah as the Vice President.

Agreed ... while that would be my dream ticket, for sure, it’d never happen.

I love Dick Cheney and his whole family but I think he can be more effective from where he sits. Just as Rush, Beck and Hannity can.

That is a good ticket. I doubt it would happen, but it would be a dream ticket.

I'd like to see Rush run. He is the best ever at responding to liberal arguments quickly and with wit. Hannity is correct in his positions, but doesn't always argue them so well. He's one of those who reads and understands, and then regurgitates well, but is not as quick on his feet. In a campaign, you have to be.

He would have to attack the oxycontin stuff head on, explain how he got addicted to pain medication after an operation, and then defeated the addiction. He can compare himself to Obama the cokehead in the process. It is not by any means disqualifying, just an inital hurdle to get over.

He is the most articulate conservative out there right now, and has been right on every issue since 1988. He has a deeper understanding of every issue than anyone, and when he turns to experts, he synthesizes it, understands it, and translates it to his listeners in a way that they understand. It will take someone who is right on the issues and can battle back verbally and strategically with socialists to turn back the tide of this ultimate battle.

I agree with you 110% regarding how Rush handles the issues, does his homework and just overflows with common sense when dealing with the problems of the world. Should he run? That’s where we agree to disagree. He can do MORE from his seat than he could EVER do from the Oval office. He is his own man where he is and we need him right there. :)

What if there’s no one else? I love Palin, but who knows if she even will run. As President, he could cut his show down to one hour a day educating the public, and spend the rest of the day restoring America.

Well, I think as he is he is a FREE MAN. Once you are in office you are subjected to a lot of restraints. Rush could NEVER live that way AND... we would never get what we get every single day with him at the Golden EIB microphone. :)
