All My Children has always been a liberal program. The author neglects to mention that Erica Kane was the first tv character to take advantage of Roe v. Wade. She had an abortion so pregnancy wouldn't interfere with her modeling career. last winter he lesbian daughter married another Lesbian.

You have to remember that most of what is shown on TV is social conditioning.

Um..I dunno, maybe change the channel?
Just a thought.

it’s a soap opera. It’s trashy, unreal and completely separate from reality. Soaps have utter garbage on them most of the time. Best thing — stop watching soaps.

That’s nothing. On Food Network, I saw someone whip the egg whites until they were stiff.

Does the ‘off’ button work on that TV?... how about the channel selector button?

Lots of advice to just “change the channel”, I see.
OK advice, but I’d rather explain something.
That wasn’t child abuse you saw. That was a child acting. Now if the young actress is working in a situation where what is going on is against child labor laws - and there are laws - that would be a problem. But it would be a violation of child labor laws and not per se “child abuse”.
When a child goes into acting that child is playing a role just as much as an adult actor is playing a role. They were following a script, which I’m sure you know since you go into detail about the bad writing on the show, etc.
Well...let that knowledge you have be your guide. It’s a SHOW. They are PRETENDING. You seem to understand that on one level, but when you switch to charging that it is actual, literal child abuse you are watching, you lose the train of thought.

My wife is a fan of that POS show. Today she told me she's getting fed up with the crappy writing and miracle storylines. She thinks the writers were dishonest by not killing off Adam when they gave all indications it was he who was killed only to have him miraculously not killed. She said, "He even said the words 'now I must die for all the wrongs I've done' ".
Then theres this one: Kendall knows she didn't kill anyone but when a ghost tells her she did she believes it!!
Then this: Some male characters on the show steal Kendall from jail by substituting someone that looks like her in her place! That one made my honey groan.
I've always told honey that those shows are more cartoonish than cartoons are. I think she's coming around to my point of view.

I’m confused. The author is upset at the ACTING out child abuse? Are they concerned for the well being of the child ACTOR? As if the child would believe that they really did see a murder?
This seems a little... dramatic to me.

I never watched a soap until my daughter went off to college and asked me to watch AMC so as to tell her what happened on the story line. So I did and was hooked. That was in the late 70s.
What cured me? Another addiction!
In 1998 I found FR and started to tape AMC, but the unwatched tapes started to pile up and I finally tossed them —— and was cured!
But my addiction to FR is another matter. There is no cure. Thank you JimRob!!
