On the evening of August 6, 2009, Kenneth Gladney was attacked outside a town hall meeting hosted by Democratic Congressmen Russ Carnahan. Kenneth Gladney was handing out flags emblazoned with the traditional phrase Dont Tread on Me when he was attacked by members of the Service Employees International Union. In an official statement, Gladneys attorney David Brown stated:
Kenneth was attacked on the evening of August 6, 2009 at Rep. Russ Carnahans town hall meeting in South St. Louis County. I was at the town hall meeting as well and witnessed the events leading up to the attack of Kenneth. Kenneth was approached by an SEIU representative as Kenneth was handing out Dont Tread on Me flags to other conservatives. The SEIU representative demanded to know why a black man was handing out these flags. The SEIU member used a racial slur against Kenneth, then punched him in the face. Kenneth fell to the ground. Another SEIU member yelled racial epithets at Kenneth as he kicked him in the head and back. Kenneth was also brutally attacked by one other male SEIU member and an unidentified woman. The three men were clearly SEIU members, as they were wearing T-shirts with the SEIU logo.
Kenneth was beaten badly. One assailant fled on foot; three others were arrested. Kenneth was admitted to St. Johns Mercy Medical Center emergency room, where he was treated for his numerous injuries. Kenneth was merely expressing his freedom of speech by handing out the flags. In fact, he merely asked people as they exited the town hall meeting whether they would like a flag. He in no way provoked any argument or altercation, as evidenced by the fact that three assailants were arrested.
The interesting part of this story is the fact that Gladney is an African American and a conservative. Where is the outrage in the black community over a black man being attacked by union members? Is the incident somehow acceptable since one of the assailants was also an African American? Where is the President stating that members of SEIU acted stupidly? Most recently, America followed the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates by Cambridge police Sgt. James Crowly. Many thought the arrest was racially motivated, including President Obama. When the facts set the record straight, both parties were invited to the White House for a beer. In the St. Louis incident, Kenneth Gladney didnt do anything to provoke his attackers besides handing out small flags. One of the attackers allegedly wanted to know why a black man was handing out these flags. Is there some unwritten rule that African Americans cant speak out against the President, or stand up for the principles they believe in without being assaulted? The problem with racism in America today is that there are so many nuances that leave one analyzing each incident to determine whether or not a racist act took place. It is hard to imagine anything more racist than a black man being beat down by multiple men using racial epithets without any sort of provocation. Racism is an evil that should be confronted on an equal playing field without discrimination.
Nobama doesn’t have all the facts of this incident, but he’s sure that Gladney acted ‘stupidly’. Zero is currently checking to see if there is any beer left over from his previous stab at a ‘teachable moment’.
Nothing surprising. The guy is a conservative, and there's no one black liberals (and liberals in general) despise more than black conservatives.
Huh, there could have been a real melee had Gladney chosen to tread back on the SEIUers.
Guilty of promoting thought crimes. They don’t care what race he is in the general media, he doesn’t fit their required stereotype for reporting. If anyone deserves a beer at the White House it’s this man.
A man who votes by his values and conscience is an abomanation to the lunny democrats. How dare he vote by his conscience and values instead of because the obamanation is black. Who does he think he is? An American? (satire)
How dare he not line up blindly for a handout and a pat on the head? The left are disgustingly racist.
I hope he sues their asses into oblivion!
I’m sure since the incedent he’s had “severe back pain, vision problems, and headaches”.... He could be stricken for the rest of his life over this senseless act of racially motivated violence!
Everybody knows a conservative black is an uncle tom
here is the way to make sure it gets attention:
Hey! Did you see those republicans beat up that democrat black man??????????
that would get 24/7 coverage
The Justus Bros. (Sharpton and Jackson) only deal with white on black issues.
BTW, I hope Mr. Gladney is doing better.
I appreciate his entrepreneurship.
Didn’t the lefties just pass a hate crimes bill? I would think this would certainly fit the situation. Our president is responsible for this since he sent his thugs out.
Conservative Blacks = 3/5's of a person in the world of the liberal.
Black on black.
Liberal on conservative.
Not newsworthy.
Doesn’t fit the agenda.
I hope he does too. I’ve always thought conservatives should fight fire with fire where the legal system is concerned.
We are facing a drooling beast, that knows neither reason nor compassion.
“Congress shall make no law...... abridging the freedom of speech ...” Article 2, Bill of Rights
That is so yesterday!
It was only a few days ago that our president informed of the woeful inadequacy of our Bill of Rights, which, he informs us, are only “negative rights”. This outmoded concept puts limits on actions that our president can take on behalf of his constituents.
The SEIU workers, as an expression of the will of the masses, were merely implementing one of President Obama’s “Positive Rights” (the right to get on board).
Just to help the average American to grasp this concept, look at a “Positive Right” as being Matter, and a negative right as being Anti-Matter. What happens to anti-matter when it smacks into matter? It gets annihilated! That’s what has just happened to Mr. Gladney, along with our “Bill of Rights”..
They can bring on their “Matter”. I’ll B!itch slap the crap out of them.
